I have finally decided to quit smoking (again)! This time I have talked my husband into it too! I don't think I can quit without him quitting too!

I purchased Mistic E Cigs at the store and they seem to be working, they take the edge off, as I have not had a real cigarette since Monday. My husband has had a couple of real cigs but says he likes the E Cigs, he was smoking 2 packs a day., I smoked a 1/2 pack a day. I hope this time we will be successful, we really need to quit this horrible habit!

I am glad for the technology of these E Cigs and seem to be curbing my craving and dependence on tobacco and hopefully can remain smoke free this time!

I wish you both luck. My dh and I quit four years ago. Both of our fathers died from lung cancer and I lost my brother a little over a year ago who also had lung cancer, but other issues as well. My dh said he wanted to use the e-cigs for just a few months and is still using them much to my chagrin. They're expensive, but it's better than smoking, I guess. Good luck ~ it does get easier. When you get the urge, get up and do something else for a few minutes, the urge usually goes away.

PS: I had smoked for 30 years and recently had to take a breathing test for some auto immune disorders and I scored so high that the Dr. couldn't believe that I had been a smoker. So, there is hope to regain healthy lungs.

Thank you to all of you! TwoPeas I lost my sister to lung cancer( she was a nonsmoker) 7 years ago, she was only 47 and I think it is time to kick this horrible habit. Not a very good way to honor my sister's memory, and hurt everyone around us, including us. She fought so hard to beat cancer, I think we should do the same with fighting this addiction.

Good luck to you, snap! I quit cold turkey in 1979 and it was maybe one of the two smartest things I ever did in my life. Especially now that my first cousin (who is 3 years younger than me) is in hospice, dying from COPD, 100% related to her lifelong cigarette habit. You can do this!

I think this time we can do it, in the past quitting cold turkey has not worked, I would be back to smoking in a week, but these ECigs really are helping us this time! Our family and friends are so happy we are quitting!( and so are we)

Thank you to all that replied and good to know that I am not alone, and that you have all kicked this habit and stayed smoke free!!!!

Congratulations to you! Hang in there and you'll see huge changes in your breathing and health very soon.

I quit smoking November 18, 1981. I was a 2.5 pack a day smoker and went through an experimental program one of the state university's was sponsoring at my workplace. Over a 6 week period, we actually doubled our smoking. That last week was rough....I had to stay up late and get up early to get 5 packs in. But it worked!

I could never wean myself off. It's not something I'm able to do, especially when it came to smoking.

It's been 33 years and I occasionally have a craving. It was really weird....I had a craving last week and hadn't had one in at least 2 years. But they go away fast and I'm never tempted.

Hi Calmin- Thank you! I have friends that did the hypnosis thing, actually worked on them for a while, but within a year they were smoking again. WOW smoking that many cigarettes must of made you sick, did you have to leave them all in the ashtray? I had a friend that quit that way also and has never smoked again. Every time she felt the urge she would look and smell that dirty ashtray, never smoked again!

I have read so much about these ECigs, and made up my mind that this time I am quitting!

My husband and I quit together cold turkey in 1986. You almost have to quit together as is is just not good having one person smoking and smelling like smoke while you are abstaining. Best thing you can ever do is to quit smoking. Not only possibly save your life.... save money as well. When I quit cigarettes were $1.75 a pak.... I can not believe people pay what they do today for one pak!! That alone should be incentive!

as far as the E cigs... that is questionable as I think they are going to find all kinds of dangerous ingredients in them that may hurt your health. It is better to just STOP. The E cigs are not really getting you away from smoking... it is trading one bad habit for another. Just my opinion on them.

Stick with it... it is hard to do, but if you do it for 30 days... eat a healthy diet... walk and drink lots of water... you will detox and feel so much better that that in itself will be incentive to continue your new life without cigarettes. Best wishes to you and your DH.

I quit in 2002 and DH quit in 2010. Both times it was pretty brutal - it took me 3-4 months to start feeling REALLY better. I am SO GLAD I quit!!! It was worth it. With me I just had a lot of crazy emotional swings. He was pretty angry for a while. But it's behind us, and I always say quitting helped me become the "authentic me". Both our personalities changed with the quit. Keep it up! Pick a mantra and/or a quit song and repeat as necessary. Be kind to yourself. Say no to every extra thing you are asked to do that you can possibly bow out of for a while.

I didn't have the ecig but I discovered that heavy breathing, or using a straw to "puff" on REALLY helped me, as did a squeeze ball.

Like you I needed to quit too but hubby smoked and loved it. So a year and half ago he finally decided to try the e cigs and neither one of us have had a real cigarette since.

We use the vaping ones with all the flavors. I have slowly went from 18 mgs down to 6mgs.

I wish you good luck. It is tough. I quit once for over a year and half but then Hubby came back from Saudi and we fought so much over his stench that I started again. He prefers vaping over the real thing so I am happy about that.

We don't smell like pig pen anymore but then I am sure he smelled better then both of us combined. Keep us updated.
