had this happen. had to have minor surgery to reseal, burn, and seal again where polyp was done. my bleed happened 2 days late after colonoscopy . had to have 3 blood transfusion. was in the hospital for 2 days. took about 1 week to get me back on my feet.

had to have prep done in the hospital, while laying on a gurnee table, not fun at all, but I survived

DH had one today. They removed a one small polyp. The Dr said it looks good. We had lunch and he felt fine. but...

He had very bad post-op bleeding and was admitted to hospital. His hemoglobin has gone from 15 to 13. Tomorrow he have a procedure to clip where they removed the polyp.

I'm a little scared.

ROMARY - Thank You. they said it happens to 1 in 200, not all that rare.

Nearly ten years ago (March) he had a stroke that he fully recovered from. A scary medical situation once a decade is plenty.

He called me from the hospital. Nothing bothers him. This has got us both a little freaked out.

I'm going to try to sleep now.

If he has a history of stroke, does he take any blood thinners or routine aspirin daily? If he does, was he advised to stop them for a certain amount of time before the colonoscopy?

I hope that he will recover completely soon, come home, and that the polyp tests benign. My prayers are with you and your DH.

Only in Jan 2014 he started taking a low dose aspirin with his new Dr. He was not told to stop taking it.

I specifically asked the Dr if that was the cause. He said statistically, there is no more bleeding with people that take the aspirin and no less bleeding with people that stop taking it. I don't buy it.

hemoglobin is now 11.5 .they ordered the laxative prep. He's still bleeding.

Thanks for the prayers and well wishes.

Had many colonoscopies and also have permanent Titanium Clips holding a section of my right colon together.

I can tell you that you need not worry about this because I have been there, about 125+ blood transfusions for that reason. Mine was much different as nothing was done to start my bleeding as I had no polyps in my original colonoscopy that was years prior to my colon bleeding issues.

Don't worry about hemoglobin until it gets down to 7.0 unless you husband has had a heart attack, then it should not go below 10.0, according to my Cardiologist.

At this point I've had 13 colonoscopies and 5 Double Balloon Enteroscopies and I can tell you there is not reason to worry at this point. With mine they could not find the source of the bleeding, thus the multiple procedures trying to find it. With your husband they know where the source of the bleeding and it can be easily fixed either by laser or, clips like I have holding mine together now since 2012, without any bleeding.

Best to you and your husband,

They did cauterize it when it was removed but it didn't hold.

He's staying the night again.

He will need a colonoscopy in three years because of the polyp.
