Oh F1wild...not sure if you remember me, but I'm the one that was "talking" to you about my cousin and her treatment for internal melanoma.

I wanted to update you. Everything was going great. She had her first round of treatment with experiencing almost no side effects. Then this past Friday, she woke up and her sister noticed that her speech was garbled. She went to the ER and learned that her electrolytes were almost non-existant. They spoke with her oncologist and were arranging for a helicopter to transport her to USC when her heart stopped. She was gone within a half an hour.

I'm absolutely heartbroken. Her doctor had joked that she would be sending him Christmas cards for 10-20 years! He has no idea what happened! The only consolation is that she was upbeat and positive (in part thanks to my repeating your story to her!) and had no idea that the end was near.

I just wanted to let you know and to thank you for the hope that you gave us.

I am so sorry for your loss! I've been reading your posts and wanted to tell you to go to the cancer survivors board to find F1. I can't imagine how heartbroken you must be!! There are no words......

Yes, of course I remember...I'm so, so sorry for your family's loss. That's just not fair, at all! I hope she knew, and her whole family knows, she was in our prayers and strong, positive thoughts of peace. She touched lives who would never even meet her. Again. I'm very sorry.

Forgive my immunotherapy brain, but did she start on Yervoy treatment or was it something else? I know I was so dehydrated a few times it really messed me up and I had to stay at Club Mayo for lengths of time. I had to drink gallons of Gator/Powerade drinks and still was so parched I could barely talk. You can't mess around with electrolytes. Your poor cousin

Melanoma and all its garbage is a dangerous disease with absolutely no discrimination. It seems like just when the oncologists/researchers figure it out it changes again. I get so angry when I hear of these beautiful lives cut short.

Panz I am so very sorry for your loss. The only solace is that your cousin didn't suffer. I think that is something to hold on to. My husband is fighting this horrible disease too. He was at the dr on Friday because he needed IV fluids. Anything can happen at any time and it's heartbreaking. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

Panz, I am so sorry to hear of your cousin's sudden passing. What a shock for you all, and not to know why is terrible. My prayers for you all during this difficult time.
