Thanks, gals, for the info. My problem is itching ALL over my body. It is sooooo intense. The "other" area is much better. I don't know that the Monistat is the culprit. It began after I had a 3 day treatment of the M. The day I start itching was when my son, who has Type 1 diabetes, fell into a very low blood sugar spell. We had to call paramedics. I immediately started this reaction. That's why I was wondering if it could be stress. I have tried to reach my doctor to no avail. I wondered about Hives also. These are itchy little bumps. I know it is not shingles, as it is all over, not on one side. Hopefully I can speak to my doctor soon. In the meantime, Calamine is my best friend.

You are having a reaction to something, that's for sure.

Can you take some Benadryl? 50mgs( 2 tabs).IT will make you sleepy, but maybe if you take it at bedtime you can get some sleep and some relief.

Shingles does not have to be on one side. This sounds like shingles to me.

Shingles does not have to be on one side. This sounds like shingles to me.

Shingles are not itchy at this stage, they hurt. Bad.

Shingles? I was told by a doctor once shingles is only on one side of the body. I am not hurting-just itchy.

If you can take it, the Benadryl will help the itching and the rash. It blocks the histamine response.

This description really doesn't sound like shingles at all. Shingles has a rash and is almost always on one side. Pianomama, I hope you contacted your physician or at least your pharmacist if the problem persisted.

Update: Went to Doctor and it is a fungal rash. Easy to treat with over the counter cream.

I am so happy for you that it can be easily treated. But I am confused. Was it related to your original infection? Are fungus and yeast infections the same thing? I just don't know if those things can spread and would appreciate someone sharing their knowledge. Thank you.

Yeast infection is caused by candida albicans a fungus. Yes, it can spread systemically...try avoiding sugar, until the rash is gone. And use the OTC fungal cream until it is is fully gone.

Yeast is only one type or sub-set of fungus. As an analogy: Say fungus is Europe with all of its countries. Yeast is only one fungus, like Germany is only one country. Does this make sense?
