On 7/1/2014 vabiker said:
just a quick question...to monitor sleep ..how do you tap it to set it up for sleep then to wake it up?

I have not tried using it as an alarm yet, but I can help you with monitoring your sleep. When you are ready to close your eyes, just tap on the top of the bracelet a few times. It will sort of vibrate on your wrist - - you will feel it. Then it will "glow" at you with what one person called 'snake eyes". This puts it into sleep mode. When you wake up, just tap it the same way and it will vibrate again and wake up. It will start counting your steps as soon as your feet hit the floor. I know that there is information on the FitBit website about setting it up as an alarm - - I'm pretty sure that's easy. I believe you just have to set it up from your computer by telling it what time you want it to vibrate. You can probably set it for different times (for weekends). However, again, I have not tried using this function.

Got my Fitbit and was really excited to use it but it doesn't stay charged..I charged it too...plus I was checking out the info about it's many uses ( sleep pattern, food intake, etc) and saw you have to pay $50 a year for each thing if you want to keep monitoring them...what a rip off...I don't recall the hosts giving that info to the viewers. I would really like to keep it but I have many questions and there is no number you can call to ask and the chat wasn't very helpful either

I have one and I was unaware of the $50 a year charge. Really? I won't pay it. Wow.

Edit: I did a super fast google and you DO NOT pay yearly. That is only for fitbit premium which is not necessary for me at all.

I monitored sleep only for the first few weeks of owning the product. I got it to track my activity. So I use it to count steps, active minutes, calories burned, stairs climbed (this depends on what model you have). I add in other activities I do that aren't step-related, like cycling and Pilates. I don't get steps from them, but it shows how many extra calories I've burned.

I can't say for sure, but I think with the premium plan, you get more of a breakdown if you use the site for food monitoring. I think you also get more personalized info...not something I want or need.

OP...I don't know what you are/were looking at that says there is a fee. I purchased mine from the Q when it was a TSV and went to the FitBit web site and set up my profile as soon as mine arrived. The website allows me to keep track of everything mentioned - - and it's absolutely free. I love mine and only charge it about every six days. I'm so sorry that you are having a problem with yours. Did you purchase yours from Q? Stop over at our FitBit Walker's Club thread (in Health & Fitness) and maybe we can help you. We have a lot of very nice, encouraging ladies over there. You are welcome and we will assist if we can.
