I had a couple of episodes of postional vertigo and my chiro dr did a hands on thing that settle the "crystals" that get out of whack in the ears. You can do the same thing on yourself --I haven't yet but will look it up. Not sure what the name of the procedure is but it doesn't hurt. Look on youtube.

Thought I would share this as I and so many other people I've talked to lately knew nothing about it. A couple of weeks ago I was in the hospital for a couple of days having every test you can have for a stroke. Thankfully it was not a stroke. About 2 1/2 to 3 yrs. ago it was.

There is now therapy you can get for it. Not just the normal neck exercises they give you. A therapist came in and took me through it. It went totally away and hasn't come back since! I have talked to others (even my dentist) who say they had never heard of this and they had relatives who they would tell....so thought I would share it here.

I have episodes of vertigo, not fun. I also get dizzy spells if I move me head too fast. My doctor suggested "vestibular physical therapy". Is that what the therapist in the hospital did with you?

I'm not sure what they called it but they had me set on the bed legs in front of me....back towards end of bed. Then they had me turn my head to the right for 45 seconds then the therapist put her hands on my head and had me fall backwards fast while still holding my head. It worked! I shortened this a little so don't try this without full instructions. There's one more thing to do at the end. I have not had a vertigo attack since that moment!

Sounds like the Epley Maneuver. It's not new. It's to re-position crystals that form in your ear and then move into a bad place in the ear canal. However, when I had it done at my ear Dr.'s FYZICAL Balance Center, there was no falling back quickly. Everything was done slowly and gently.

I always thought it had to be done quickly, but she said no. But, it was most important to start by turning your head towards the offending ear first. I've never known which ear is the offending one though.

Unfortunately, I have vertigo frequently. Once it was really bad and I had the Mezcaline (sp).

Sort of figured out on my own that often it is due to my not drinking enough fluids.

I’ve heard if you’ve had vertigo before you are more prone to get it again.

An inner ear infection caused my Vertigo years ago.

Being off balance though is not the same as Vertigo.

My off balance issues started when I was prescribed Omeprezole for acid reflux. I called the Pharmacist who told me, Yes you will be off balance, but as long as you’re not falling down keep taking it. 🥴

Only a couple of times in the distant past I had bad vertigo episodes, nausea and the whole nine yards. Doctor told me it was from dehydration. Thought I was drinking enough water but apparently not. Getting older means dehydration can occur more easily. So these days I stay hydrated and I haven't had vertigo since those days in the past. tg.
