Allergy Medication

I've been sitting all day sneezing one after another. Everything is in bloom and blossom plus it's been windy so lots of dust. I've taken some meds in the past, can't remember which.

Which brand of anti-allergy meds work best for you?

I use Claritin, but my husband who has more plant, leaf, tree kind of allergies swears by Allegra or the Costco version which I think is called Allertec

I take either the Generic Claratin or Zyrtec depending what I have around

@Kachina624 RX & OTC Fluticasone Propionate

2 yrs ago I was diagnosed w/hay fever 2 weeks before DECEMBER 25th! I live in the n/e & it was below 32 degrees. WT!!!!!!

I had it so bad, by the time I was escorted into the office, I had already used up 1/2 box of Puff tissues. Doc told me I had a junkie's nose.

Doc gave me a shot butt & arm of the above. Told me when the rx ran out to get the OTC version which is a nasal spray.

Both worked like a charm. All symptoms (runny nose, relentless sneezing, itchy eyeballs, etc.) promptly disappeared within 24 hours.

Strange but true, symptoms return every December. Never in spring, summer, fall type weather. Never had allergies in my life till I turned 74....who knew?

I used to take Claritin but that was many years qgo. Now it's Allegra (generic)

@Mz iMac. That's really weird. My doctor prescribed a nasal spray anti-allergy. I used it a couple weeks and got no relief at all. Pitched the stuff.

@Kachina624 I take 24 hour Allegra at night before bed. If I still have a runny nose during the day I also use Nasacort spray. The two work for me.

@Kachina624 - I take Walmart's version of Zyrtec every morning. I used to have seasonal allergies; since we moved here I have them all of the time.

The nasal spray doesn't work for me either.

My doctor is OK with this regimen.

I use Astepro nasal spray daily but if my allergies are really bad Allegra.

Yep Benadryl for me. My itchy eyes, itchy skin and sneezing I need fast relief.

claritin d 24 hour plus the nasal spray Fluticasone propionate.

once a day and i take both right before bedtime.

I use Flonase but it takes weeks for it to kick in and really work. I tried it many years ago and didn't understand why it was doing nothing for me until I decided to give it another try last year. My allergies have me sneezing a lot but taking Flonase seems to help quite a bit!

@haddon9 I couldn't help but notice the little picture of your ADORABLE dog. What breed? (We have and love our Golden Retriever.)
