Update on my cataract surgery

Right eye was on 11/4 /25. Well considering I wasn't given enough anesthesia and felt more than pressure, relieved it is over . Very happy with the much improved vision. The eye drops really burned and uncomfortable for at least 5 minutes.

Left eye surgery was totally different and was 11/18/25.They decided to change the anesthesia. Also stated would give me :"a block to keep the eye still and me not feeling anything." Never explained what the block was but stressed me out when the doc was very close to my eye with a big needle/ syringe. Me saying : "no". The anesthesiologist said she would put me asleep for two minutes for the block to be done. I didn't feel anything during the surgery but heard everyone talking. My left eye surgery took 30 minutes. That was my very weak eye and low vision. Appointment day after surgery was excited for the eye vision test and disappointment in the results but doctor stated it was better.The doctor stated the eye was swollen internally but vision will improve. I was given a second eye drop to help with the swelling and it burns.
The left eye lid and below the eye lashes is very dark. The right eye is dark below the eye lashes and looks like two black eyes. Told not to bend over, no heavy lifting for week after surgery. Wearing eye patch at night for a week. Both eyes feel like : something is stuck in my eyes. Stated that I didn't need to wear my glasses. Every thing is so much more brighter and clear.

Watching football 🏈 with DH and able to read the score and all small numbers.

Everyone's experience is different. So relieved to have the surgery over and looking forward to finishing the eye drops schedule.
Will be excited to purchase sunglasses that aren't big to fit over eye glasses.❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏

Just goes to show you how we are all different, so sorry yours was not such smooth sailing. I have to be one of the lucky ones, I had no anesthesia at all except for numbing drops in the eye , that was my request. Doc agreed as long as I remained very stil and did not speak during the surgery. No complications after, and I did not wear the patch beyond the first night, I was allergic to the tape. I just slept on the other side each time for 2 weeks. But what really counts is the improved vision after, what a pleasure. May you continue to see better and feel better.

@Shelbelle. I had an easy time too. Had the cataract surgery in the morning; went to the dentist in the afternoon. No problem with drops burning.

Wow, Kachina, I dont think I would have gone that far to go to dentist same day unless it was an emergency, you were a real trooper !!! did you drive yourself to dentist , I drove myself to doc office next morning.

Ophthalmologist called mine baby cataracts last time I was there and I hope they stay that way. Seeing that big needle at the dentist office is bad enough.

@Shelbelle : Totally agree and understand. You were super brave to just have the drops.
I have become a big baby and wimp dealing with medical issues.

The darn tape doesn't stick and then it does and difficult to remove.

@Kachina624 : I don't like dentist and cancelled my dentist appointment until after the New Year. Had appointment for day before the eye surgery and cancelled week early.

So excited that your experience was with out problems.❤️❤️🙏🙏

My MIL was told for years hers were babies, and so she didnt have the surgeries until she was over 80. But I was told similar and less than a year later I was in surgery, mine grew really fast, a real growth spurt at once. I did not see any needles before or during my surgeries.

My cataract surgery was in November of 2013 and was flawless. Had one eye done first thing in the morning and could see on the return check-up the next day as did many folks that I spoke with. I hope most others have such a carefree experience.

@We rescue cats : So many people have excellent results with no complications and excited for you and everyone.

My friend that had a different doctor but the same surgery center was seeing great results a few hours after her surgery.

How wonderful this is behind you 💐 Once they settle down it will be a whole new world.

My two surgeries were very different too. I had different anesthesiologists and it was surprising.

Now how is the wall color now you can see? After my first one I sat down in the living room asked DD who on earth picked the paint 😂

DH said that I look younger and good without glasses.

Regret seeing : " what the cleaning lady missed" and not able to bend over and clean. Returned home and in my bathroom changing clothes . Noticed my toilet bottom and floor really dirty. Thankfully DH later cleaned my bathroom.❤️❤️

I did same thing, came homem fro having the bandage removed and I cleaned house for a week after, nothing was as clean as I had thought.

Geez you guys have to ask for the dropless cataract surgery. That's all my doctor does and it was a total breeze. Never had to administer any drops. Yippee!
