They had to insert a tube in one kidney, and he had to wear a urine collection bag. My task was to measure his output and clean the tube with a saline solution. I've blocked so much out of my memory because it was such a stressful time. He had a couple more surgical procedures, and a stent was inserted. Finally, they were able to blast the stone with a laser. When all was said and done, he was told his ureter had loops/bends which made treating the stone nearly impossible.
