FYI: A new study of 1.6 million seniors indicates that Paxlovid does not significantly reduce Covid hospitalizations or deaths in vaccinated seniors. Research was done by UCLA and University of Toronto. They further found that for this group Paxlovid's effectiveness was 4 times weaker than originally reported in Pfizer's 2022 clinical trials. On average, one Paxlovid treatment costs $1,650. You can find more information in recent news stories.

It made feel 100x better after 24 hours. I think it is a wonder drug and my internist was insistent on me taking it because it reduces the incidence of long COVID.

I know a few people who took Paxlovid and said it was effective for them. I haven't heard anything negative about it, my experience.

I don't know if any medication is 100% efffective for everyone. But I do know that Pfizer changed some of their programs for medication assistance...mine included. It is between $3K and 7K per month.

Well, it worked beautifully for DH and I. We were both vaccincated and boosted and he has severe COPD. I'm grateful for it, I don't know what would have happened to DH without it. We are both on Medicare with a BCBS supplement and prescription drug insurance and we paid $0.

One of the side effects is that it can raise your blood pressure. That happened to me. It got so high my DH called an ambulance and they recommended I go to the ER. My blood pressure hasn't been normal since. So if I ever get Covid again, I won't be taking Paxlovid.

From the study's author, Dr. John Mafi, Professor of Medicine - UCLA.

“We are not saying that Paxlovid is useless. What this research is saying is that its effectiveness in older groups who are most vulnerable to COVID-19, but who are vaccinated, is far lower than what the earlier evidence from unvaccinated groups showed.”

(Unclear to me as to the OPs intention or motivation.)

I would never trust it, one of my docs developed early onset dementia from it.

I am really not sure of all the details but he suddenly closed his office and took retirement, I was so concerned I called his office mgr about it and she told me that is what happened to him. I am sure he being a doctor himself, that it was proven. And his wife is also a doctor.

I have nothing against it, but next time I get COVID I'm going to ride it out without the meds. It helped me the first time; the second time I felt like it made me feel sicker and it gave me a metallic taste in my mouth.

Though come to think of it I had no bronchial involvement, either. Sigh - it's all so darn confusing.
