Need for 'Home Air Purifier' (?Your Info Pls?)

This new home is inordinately dusty.

I'm Dusting, vacuuming daily.

It occurred to me, I'm breathing in this same profound amount of dust.

I have a history of Allergies & esp Pneumonia, several times, in fact, so it's critical I buy some kind of Air Purifier(s).

Any recommendations you've found?

Are you new to the geographic location? Some areas of the United States are just EXTRA dusty. Like Arizona, Nevada, inland So Cal, etc. All "desert" areas. It's the CLIMATE !!!! di

Under those specific circumstances I would be searching for a medical grade air purifier, not just a common shelf brand.

You can have a heating and cooling company install a whole house air cleaner on your furnace. They can kill germs too. Change your furnace filer often, it will probably be dirty until you get al that dust out.

Thanks for your responses.

The former home was a house, and not as much of a problem. Only really environmental allergies there, but not so much lung problems. Changed that house filter regularly.

This is an older Apt Complex, about 6-10 miles from the former House I lived in until move to this Apt in a Complex here, mere months ago.

I recently ordered 2 Air Doctors, 1 large for my open living room, dining, kitchen area and another for bedroom. They are expensive but I bought them on one of their periodic sales. My daughter recommended them to me and I held off for awhile. When you compare them to some others they get the microscopic things that others don't. Thats what my daughter pointed out to me.

My biggest concern was helping with the dust that accumulates so quickly. When the sun shone in I could see the dust in the air. It's been about 3 weeks and the difference has been remarkable. At a month you're supposed to open and vacuum the outer filter. There's a video I wish I could show you of someone opening hers and the thick dust was quite impressive. I mean THICK. There are other filters you have to change later too. I'll be opening mine the first week of November to see what it's looking like.

WOW. I checked it out on Amz. There's alot of "Air Doctors" presented in Amz. Yeah, pricey, but so are lung replacements, if even alternatives possibly exist!

Is there a specific "Air Doctor" you recommend, incl you might be able to see on Amz?

- or the name of the one you have purchased, & you like, so far?

My late Mom, her 3 siblings, & my older brother died of Dx's including loss of lung use, ex emphysema. NOT PRETTY to suffocate due to no lung elasticity, capacity. So I have THAT family history, plus my own several episodes of Pneumonia, & one doubled with Pleurisy myself.

I don't want COPD either!

I cant take chances. Even laying down already compromises my lung's breathing already, I can tell.

NEVER saw soooo much dust as is here, ever!

And Ias great as Mgt is here, I dont have any hope that Mgt'll 5uck out particles in vents in this massive Apt Complex.

They're diligent at changing the filters 2-4 x Year here - hasnt helped.

@Teddie Thanks for any "Air Doctor" info, incl Online, incl Amz that you can offer.

I will happily give you more thoughts when I can at a better time. I did buy my Air Doctors directly through their website when they had a sale. I bought a package deal which included the 2 sizes I bought. And I don't want it to appear I'm fully endorsing these because I agree, they are pricey. You certainly have had serious health difficulties in your family--goodness! But I'll come back when I can.

BTW, Im also finding that newly placed DEhumidifying seems to help a lot too as to better breathing, albeit, not with the profound dust.

These inexpensive dehumidifier pkgs are producing A LOT of dehumidifying run off, so much so, Im guessing an electronic Dehumidifier would be a great companion to good Air Purifying devices, such we discussed/you presented.

@JoyFilled Warrior I haven't read that thread about gadgets but I'm curious how a dehumidifier has helped. This time of year it's getting to be where a humidifier is needed. A dehumidifier takes out humidity in the air. In my home I will be getting out the humidifiers when I run the heat more. But if you've found that to work for you that is good!

I'm sure any air cleaner you buy will be an improvement. I got the largest size and then a moderate one for bedroom. It has cut down on the dust, which has been what I wanted. I got the Wi-Fi version to keep track of things on my phone, but then that added to the price. I was very disappointed that when I went to check out I was charged shipping plus tax on all that. I can find the total price and share that with you, if you'd like.

I'm no expert on these by any means and haven't had them very long but if you think of anything you want to ask feel free. I feel a little odd talking about them as if I'm a spokesman for them because I'm not. 🫤

No No No!! Im not considering you a spokesperson for the brand. No worry, please. I changed the Topic Title to help.

I've been starting from scratch abt Air Purifiers.

To date, never needed one before this lovely, new (old) enormous Apt Complex. . So I'm guessing it would be pricey for them to 5uck up all Air Ducts. So my own Air Purifier is my substitute. And Im on a Mission!

In fact, tomorrow is this Complex Mgt's 4x/yr Filter Change to each Apt. So they're probably mindful of this problem.

I've never needed a Dehumidifier in Winter either, but I sensed a musty scent in fabric furniture here that I KNOW I didnt bring with me. And these hanging dehumidifying envelopes are producing an abundance of wet results. That HAS to help cleanse the air somewhat more here, at least until I also further research & buy Humidifiers most immediately.

Also, raising my head, with an angled Bed Pillow a bit seems to put less stress on the lungs, making for less stress breathing, & expectations from the lungs.

Im a veritable Pool Mermaid. I hope to get back to swimming regularly again. That strengthens the lungs too.

You've given me a great start to my Air Purifier search, research.
