If you have a tendency to kidney stones it is my understanding to stay away from tumeric.

There is magnesium (stay away from the oxide form as it tends to be the cheapest and the least effective) that is a good help with issue.

My mother had bone on bone in her knees. With her the only thing that helped with that was to have both knees replaced but not at the same time.

There are patches such as Salonpas that have a patch that is Over the counter to lessen the pain.

Ginger tablets and fish oil are anti inflammatories as well.

What you might seek out are medical grad compression garments.

Also accupuncture might be of help as well.

Be VERY careful with Turmeric. Even though it's the craze in supplements

It has a high level of toxicity so do your homework before you take it.

I've taken turmeric and collagen type II, and neither one did anything for my joints. In fact, I've tried both supplements more than once for months at a time and always bought brands a third-party testing site (Consumer Labs) recommended. I always hoped that "this time" I would feel some difference or notice improvement. Nope. So neither of those supplements work for me.

What I have taken for years and know helps me is the sulfate forms of Glucosamine/Chondroitin. This is the one I take:

Too many side effects with tumeric.

That doesn't sound right to me. As my grandmother used to say "bought wit can be expensive but it's the best you will ever get."

Were you on Prolia already when you had the implant surgery?

I've never known anyone who had significant improvement with Tumeric for pain/inflammation. If trials with prescription drugs and treatments (steroid injects, etc) are marginally helpful, Tumeric is no replacement for those treatments. Perhaps it would help someone who had early symptoms, with milder discomfort?

For me, it did nothing, except give me the worst GI distress and heartburn, ever. After reading the side effects and contradictions, I realized it was not safe for me, anyway.

It's known to cause GI distress, it's a blood thinner and those with gallstones need to avoid it. High doses can be toxic. There are probably more cautions, these were just a personal wake up call.

Dietary supplements are not necessarily safer than prescription meds. Docs often write scripts for OTC drugs and supplements. All can have untoward effects. Always check with your health care provider before starting a new supplement.
