I have tinnitus, but it doesn't really affect my hearing ability. Mine is like an almost feedback ringing, but I'm able to ignore it much of the time. It's probably the reason I like having the TV on most of the time during the day. Silence is when it becomes very noticeable or, like right now, when I read or talk about it.

Does anyone have an old wives remedy to help uplug ears?

There is NO fluid...but plugged (for lack of better word). Hearing is not clear, like a muffled sound when hearing someone talk or lisetning to the TV.

DH has seen an ENT, she told him to use a nasal spray and Claratin...still no relief...sometimes those old remedies work.

Thanks

We always lie down on the couch with your ear up and squeeze a little peroxide in. It will bubble and fizz and you lay there as long as possible. After get up with a kleenex over the ear and empty it out. It will still itch for a while but usually works and after a little while you will notice it is clear. For some reason it is not immediate.

Are you talking about wax (cerumen) build-up? If so, Debrox may help. I suggest talking with your ENT before using peroxide, In any event, you should check back with the ENT to ask for additional recommendations and report your response to the initial recommendation. Oops - I just read that it is not wax. I highly recommend seeing an Audiologist who holds the Certificate of Clinical Competence from The American Speech- Language-Hearing Association. He/she will have the letters CCC-A after their name in addition to the letters of their degree, often AudD (Doctor of Audiology). I do not think this is something to be addressed via Old Wives Tales.

It could be tinnitus. I have it and sometimes it does have this affect. I wouldn't use anything in my ear unless it is specifically for that use. You don't want to damage your ear drums. Also, I would see an audiologist.

Mine came on suddenly and there is no treatment to my knowledge.

An older dr we had for a pediatrician told us to use vinegar. Just pour a little in ear.-The vinegar dries up and gets rid of any bacteria.

I wouldn't use hydrogen peroxide and he said not to also.

I've used vinegar for years for swimmers ear-no water or wax but the ear feels stopped up.
