I use Alpha Skin Care Body Lotion with 12% glycolic acid in it. I use a foot file first on dry feet and then apply the lotion afterwards.

I bought a new foot file from Amazon and it's really good. Comes in a set of 2. The left one here is like a cheese grater and the other two are the same one showing both sides of the file, coarse and grinding which is more like a smoothing side. I love these.

Fu Store Foot Files Callus Remover 2 Pack

This GLYTONE lotion has 17% glycolic acid in it. It's more than any other OTC glycolic lotion I've ever seen. It's a body lotion but personally I would rather use it as a foot cream instead. I bought it one time and it's a great exfoliating product but it's too expensive to keep buying it at $48 a bottle. If only used as a foot cream when necessary then the price isn't too bad. This one is highly rated, too.

I use the Finishing Flawless Pedi file & callus remover from Amazon, Hello foot glass file & Regina glass foot files from HSN when they were on sale.

You name it I have tried it on my feet. These tools work best for me. I think the glass foot files have removed the most from my feet. They also smooth your feet after using any other tool. DH keeps asking how I make my feet so soft. If you try the flawless pedi file make sure you have a good hold of it or it will take off? I had it go up the side of my ankle when it slipped out of my hands? It works so much better than the Emjoi pedi file I used to use.

Another thing that works on calluses is Andrew Lessman's new moisturizing bars. I used it on the bottom of my feet. I have a small callus on the bottom of both feet by my toes. It's keeping the area soft instead of hard feeling.

I have never had a manicure or pedicure.

I also apply foot lotion, AmLactin or Kerasal sometimes.

Good luck finding what works for you the best. I have to keep after mine on a weekly basis or they get out of hand quickly.

Hi @goldensrbest If the file recommended doesn't get rid of your calluses, the acids won't help. I have used them. The acids are for superficial dead skin, not thick calluses.

Honestly, the best remedy for calluses is to change your shoes. I don't know where your calluses are, so it's hard to suggest what change is needed, but calluses are caused by friction which probably means the shoes are not giving you a good fit. I stop using shoes that give me calluses and throw them out. Moleskin on the shoe might help, but it depends on where the calluses are and what the shoes are made of. If the shoes are not genuine leather, the moleskin is unlikely to help because other materials have no give. My guess is the shoes are too tight/small, or just don't fit your foot correctly. Some shoes dig in in certain places.

I find files work best for calluses, but I have used a callus shaver tool with sharp replaceable blades on occasion. See below. Please if you use, be careful. Many podiatrists don't recommend them, so I am not going to either, I am just sharing that I use them on certain calluses, depending on where they are and whether I think I can reduce the callus without breaking skin.

Most often, I will use the file previously recommended, or an electric callus remover. This one works for me

It's from Amazon, there are many similar ones, I think qvc used to sell one and maybe it still does. I use something like this for smaller areas or to smooth edges:

QVC offers one similar to the bottom one for about $65, but I usually pay less than $10 for this at the drugstore/Walgreens - where ever you can find a manicure section. It uses a battery.

These electric tools are intended for use in very short periods of time, which is why a regular battery is fine.

Need to be very careful not to overfile, not to break the skin or cause pain.

I then smooth the shaved callus area with a thick cardboard file as previously recommended. The skin will remain darkened where the callus was/remains. I won't risk breaking the skin to remove the dark skin. The skin will lighten with time, but mine never go away completely. Scar products have not lightened mine. I just live with my toes as they are.

If anything hurts or bleeds, I have gone too far and stop immediately and treat the broken skin.

Follow with a rinse or wash, and then Alpha cream works for me.

And stay away from the shoes that cause the callus.

I've used that for years. You have to be careful cuz it's sharp and it can make you bleed.

@goldensrbest I haven't done well with these either because their shape doesn't conform to my feet and it is easy to get cut, and there will be a lot of strips of skin that remain unless i cut the skin. They are basically graters. I prefer the smaller files.
