New arena for me.

Nonsmoker. Never smoked.

This season has been very harsh.

Landed in the hospital last night.

Hand up roller coaster???

I am so sorry to hear you are suffering and in the hospital. Sending Get Well Wishes to you!! COPD is horrible enough without bronchitis.
Hopefully someone else with experience with these issues will chime in soon with some sage advice.

I'm sure you want to hear what other people on here experience, but The American Lung Association website might also be a resource for you. There may also be local chapters and support groups in your area.

I would think your hospital treatment plan includes oxygen therapy 24/7, IV antibiotics, steroid medications and respiratory therapy coming in several times a day to do breathing treatments that stimulate you to cough.

Good gracious this is nasty stuff. Heard that upper respiratory things are constant lately

in ERs.

@katie1859 I am glad your home! I agree with all that @RedTop said and I'm sure they were watching for pneumonia. My husband has stage 3 COPD along with inhalers, oral medication and using a nebulizer four times a day I keep a watch on his oxygen level. His pulmonary dr referred him to a COPD clinic at the hospital and he did go once a week which was quite helpful.
You are on good medications that will improve your symptoms and I hope you are feeling better.

I don't have COPD, but I have Asthma that has been more sensitive for the past few years where I now use a dual inhaler.

I also use Advair. I haven't been sick like I've been this year. I had Bronchitis back in April, and then I went back to Urgent Care at the beginning of July because I got sick really, really, fast right before the 4th of July weekend.

It hit my chest right away, and when I went to Urgent Care I was tested with a swab for the flu and that came back positive for Type A Flu. It's not usually flu season during the Summer.

I also received an antibiotic, a steroid, and generic Tamiflu, plus a breathing treatment. The chest x-ray I had came back negative for anything like Pneumonia.

I also use an Albuterol rescue inhaler when needed for my Asthma.

My wheezing was really aggravated though, when I was sick.

I also got a nebulizer to use at home from the Urgent Care doctor, and normally I don't use one at home because my Asthma is normally pretty mild, but I haven't been sick like this with upper respiratory illnesses in quite a long time.

Now I have one to use at home in case I get sick like this again and need some extra help with breathing.

Two weeks ago I had been coughing very much. One morning I coughed and up came blood. Scared the heck out of me. Was taken to the ER and they ran all kinds of test, checking with chest xrays, blood, work, xrays, etc. I had bronchitis. No COPD. Antibotics, inhaler, sniutis clean out three or four times a day, cough meds. It lasted about two week. I am fine now and hope you have a speedy recovery. They said the Bronchial problems were going around.

@katie1859, My daughter and I both have lung issues. My mother's father had asthma, and the suffering was immense in those very old days.

Best thing you can do is to find a specialist who is both well-versed in modern meds and has a real commitment to their patients. Modern medications are excellent. I just have to avoid being out in very hot and humid weather - otherwise I live a normal life, as does my daughter. When we push it too far, you can get quite sick.
