Who is in a nursing home ,in Indiana has contacted covid, she is in her late 80's, just so you know i live in Maine ,worried about her.

@goldensrbest I wouldn't worry too much. Any cold or flu at 80 can be serious. However, my 80 year old mother and father both had Covid twice. My dad is healthy, my mom is overweight, high blood pressure, diabetic, along with other health issues.

They both got through it pretty quickly. My mom said she was much sicker when she was sick from other viruses than she was with Covid.

Oh, and one of the times my dad had Covid he didn't even know it. He only tested because my mom was sick. His only system was a little fatigue.

@goldensrbest I'm sorry your Mom has COVID. I'm almost 82 and am just recovering from it. Don't know how I got it and was boosted in April again. Perhaps it's helped.
I only took two treatments of Paxlovid and my tummy couldn't tolerate it so Dr said to stop. Runny nose, coughing but better. There are other antiviral drugs but I wasn't offered any. Just told to stay home 5 days.
I hope she can have treatment it might be over faster, I'm on day 13, still coughing.

The vaccine can not keep you from getting Covid It can make it lesser if you do get it

@goldensrbest I'm so sorry that your mom got covid. I'm going to think good thoughts for her to make a full recovery soon. Can you do skype or zoom video calls with her? Maybe that could help her through this and also could help in being able to see her since you're far away.. You're a lovely daughter to care about and worry about her. All the best to you and your mom

I understand your concern, but with the distance between you, you have no choice but to trust the staff to take care of her. If your mom has been vaccinated and boostered, her case may not become severe.

I am pretty sure my husband has been dealing with Covid for the last week. If so, his case has been mild, thanks to taking every shot available thru the VA. He ran a significant fever for nearly 2 days and hasn't wanted to eat, but has not complained of anything. The only way I can explain it is that he's just "off" and not his normal self.

Within 2 weeks after we placed my mom in 24/7 care last September, she was exposed to and tested positive for Covid. Mom refused to take the vaccine, so at 89, we were quite concerned. She coughed a little and had a runny nose for a week and that was it!

My heart goes out to you and I am praying for her full recovery. In the mighty name of Jesus I pray complete healing for @goldensrbest mom! I lost my mom to Covid in 2020, she was in a nursing home and she was 88 so I understand your worry, believe me.

@monicakm. There's a new varient and a new vaccine was issued about 3 months ago, with another scheduled for fall. The new Covid has some cold-like symptoms. I've heard of a lot of cases lately.

I had the new one a few months ago and the RSV and flu shots, not all on the same day.

I am very thankful they're available.

I checked online, covid is very low for the area she lives in, but being up there in age,and poor health i think those in nursing homes,are at risk.

Right now there are 1270+ reported Covid cases in my county of southern WV. Am sure that number is much higher due to stubborn people (like my husband) who refused to test and don't have severe symptoms that require treatment.
