Hi y'all. I appreciate your help. I was on the phone this morning. I called Resmed. She stated if the headgear for DH was standard that he needed the large. The mask she suggested the Air Fit F40 because it fits under the nose and not in the nose or on the bridge of the nose.

I then called DH medical supply and talked with the bipap specialist. She agreed with what Resmed. She said DH is due new supplies on 8\18\24. I scheduled appointment for DH on the morning of 7/31\24 and DH to take bipap machine and mask. She will fit DH with correct supplies then we can call her on 8\14\24 and she will place the order and have everything mailed to our house. I showed DH video of a man putting the F40 mask on. He finally understood how the mask fit and agreed.

I appreciate everyone taking the time to respond.🤗❤🙏

Dh has this machine and the mask largest size is large. The mask rubs DH nose. DH has tried to adjust the straps. Has tried placing cloth or bandaids on his nose and nothing helps. Anyone using this machine have you experienced the same problem? Do you have any suggestions? Thank you.

I use the Resmed Airsense 11 CPAP. I took out my manual and could not find a phone number to contact them.

Their was a brief note about contacting the Resmed Service Center or your care provider. I would reach out to my care provider, who prescribed this and see if they could help you. He cannot be the only person that has had this problem so hopefully a solution can be offered.

I think this is my model but can't find the instructions right now. When I got it originally last year, the woman said I could try out the mask for a month and if it wasn't great, I could come back and get a different one.

Yes, it does rub my nose (I have size small) and the straps leave marks on my cheeks all day. DH says it must be too tight and told me to loosen strap. But if I do, the whole thing slides around.

DH has little tubes that go in his nostrils with his CPAP. (Different model than mine.)

Maybe your spouse could go back to the practice and ask for the breathing apparatus that goes IN the nostrils instead of the mask on the nose.

Good luck to you both. Gotta say, these things aren't perfect.

Seannie

I told my doctor I would not wear the mask, I feel claustrophobic just looking at it.

I pull the top strap more towards the front of my head to make it a looser fit, and that helps not only with comfort level but for the most part I do not have the marks on my face when I wake up in the morning.

I have had a RESMED CPAP machine for years. I believe I got the referral to a supplier from the doctor that handled my sleep study. You shouldn't have to pay or shop around for supplies. I received different sizes of nasal masks til I got the one that fit me best. Have you contacted his dr. and who has he been getting his supplies from. They are supposed to handle everything.

They have come a long way in recent years and it should never be painful or uncomfortable. My supplier sends me reminders when it's time to reorder, everything is shipped to my house, and Medicare covers it. No bills. I'd give the doctor a call end ask him who your supplier is and get their number or have them call you. Tomorrow. You don't need to wait.
I hope this helps and keep us updated.

I'm not sure if I can give you the name of the company I use (in case they're available in your area) but I'll try. Google APRIA.

I'm extremely satisfied with them.
Hope this helps.

@SouthernBee, I would contact your husband's medical supply where he gets his supplies. He can always try different masks. I have tried at least five different ones until I found one that was comfortable and fit better. The only thing to remember is that per Medicare's guidelines, you can only get a new full head gear every 3 months, cushions and mask every month. So, every three months I would try a different mask until I found one that I liked. Hopefully, you live near the medical supply company and they should have a specialist who can advise him of the different types of head gear and masks. They should also know when to try a new mask and when Medicare will pay for it.
