toothpaste weird thing--

I went to my grocery store yesterday --needed some Sensodyne toothpaste----and when I go to that section--it all was gone from the shelves with a sign that said--to go to the pharmacy to ask for some??!! What!!! Is there a toothpaste crisis I didn't know about ---is some nafarious implement of distruction being made from it??? Would have asked but too many people in line--just weird!!

A lot of pharmacies are having problems with theft. Entire shelves wiped out. Maybe this is thier answer. It's becoming a huge problem across the nation!

That section was only 3 feet wide and maybe just 3/4 shelves down and the rest of the brands were fully stocked from top to bottom. Just that brand was gone.

@wagirl - That is indeed weird. A quick search revealed that Pfizer is cutting its investment in Haleon who makes the brand, and also (per BBC News) that a manufacturing plant in Berkshire will be closing down and elilminating 435 jobs. Doesn't sound good. Perhaps there is a shortage, as you surmise?

The shelves are barer than during the pandemic, it makes me sad to even walk in the door.

Have you noticed that Sensodyne has risen quite a bit in price lately?

Since the store has some, but it's just been moved, I'd say it's a shrinkage problem.

It was still on the shelf here at my ShopRite. However the price was $7.00 and I'm thinking that is the reason some stores may want to keep it away from potential shoplifters. The way of the world I guess. I'm off to check the price on A because $7 is a bit much for a toothpaste that lasts me maybe 3 weeks.

I wonder if there is a problem obtaining ingredients for certain brands. Trader Joe's didn't have any toothpaste at all. I was looking for Tom's fluroide-free toothpaste. Someone who works there said they have been out for months and haven't been able to get it. When she looked it up on their computer they won't be restocked until November.

Normal toothpaste is locked up everywhere around here becuase it is one of the favorite items for shoplifters to resell.

Im so sad our closest B's closed, so now I go tothe Fairwood or Maple Valley one. I cannot believe you have to ask to have something out of case!

I have Anthem Blue Cross and ordered two tubes from Nations. This is part of my medicare plan. I get $100.00 every three months to spend and it was free. The costs was listed at $11.98 for each tube.

I buy all my stuff like that on Amazon get it in a day or two and it arrives at my door
