Laser treatment for sciatica??a

Has anyone tried laser for sciatica? I know it takes time to heal but it's been 3 weeks now and I am getting tired of this. Been to MD once (did nothing) and my chiro 3x which helped and doing excerises but still hanging in there. He said it could take 4-6 weeks to clear. My back feels fine the pain/tingling/ burning goes down the side of my leg and lingers around my knee. Back and knee feels fine...just the surrounding nerves...any thoughts?

No none of the above, but ice on my back, Voltaren, & when things get really bad I get a shot of Torodol. I also use a TENS Unit for pain. Good luck!

I had sciatica some years back and it took about 2 months the for the severe pain to recede. My MD at the time gave me acupuncture treatments and that seemed to help.

I tried physical therapy and I couldn't do it. After one session I was in agony. A heating pad helped. Sorry you are going through this. Laser therapy is worth a try. It is non invasive and may help. I have not had it though.

I had a spinal fusion about 5-6 years ago and I haven't had it since. It was more on my right leg. It's a terrible pain, for me nothing I did helped. From physical therapy to buying insoles for my shoes. I do hope you get relief.

I hadn't heard of laser treatment, but this morning my DD had a spinal injection for the same stuff. It seems to have helped.

Laser treatment must be new. What did your doctor tell you about it? Pros? Con?

My doctor referred me right off to a pain specialist.

I refused PT. Told the doctor I have a dog that I walk a few times a day, that's my PT. The only thing that worked for me was a cortisone shot, muscle relaxants & oxy. Stopped the last 2 cold turkey 6 months into pain therapy. Have not had any flare ups, muscle spasms & have been pain free for 2 years.

Told the doctor not to worry about me becoming a junkie. I know where to go & who to see if she won''t prescribe it.

@bargainsgirl You might want to try taking a 50mg vitamin B complex supplement. It's a simple and non-invasive treatment that works for me. I noticed improvement after a week or two.

I had sciatica once and I thought I was going to have to take a leave from work. I could not sit or stand. The an was excruciating. I got a lumbar epidural steroid injection and it was magic. I only needed one. At that time my insurance didn't pay for it. It was $1000. and well worth it. I hope you get relief soon. It was horribly painful.

I've had it for years running down into my feet. (some scolioisis too)

I take "norco". 7.5 hyrdocodeine/425 tylenol 4 times a day.

I can't take aspirin as I have "barrett's" and severe gerd with any other medications than codeine and tylenol.

Plus after the 3 month hospital stay and sepsis in 2012-2022, it has given me terrible joint aches which could be for life no matter how much I exercise.

Back to the laser therapy....ach, I'm not sure but I doubt it will work like all the other genious things they come up with. Best of luck to you. Mostly, I don't like to see anyone in pain.

In early 2020, my pain mgmt doc recommended lidocaine patches, Tylenol, hot or cold compresses twice a day for 30minutes, physical therapy, and remaining active.

It took a few weeks but the pain got under control snd dealing with flare-ups isn’t difficult. I follow his instructions and there are minor flare-ups, but they are manageable.

Nothing worked for me either including OTC pain relievers, heat, lidicaine and then my doctor gave me a series of steroid tablets. Not a quick relief by any means.... but after a while it started going away. I've not had it since. and will do most ANYTHING to not have it come back....

I could hardly walk, my right leg was killing me so I made an appointment with my Acupuncturist and she told me it was sciatica. I never had sciatica before but she had me walking normal within three or four treatments, I guess I caught it early.
