She found they were not effective for her and her doctor suggested taking a test that looks at your DNA to determine which med would work best with her chemistry.

After testing came back she was weaned off old medication and then started a new course.

Every person reacts differently. I would never go off a drug immediately.

I am weaning myself off a anti depressant I've taken for years. My Dr. said take half the dose for 2 months. At that point I am to check back with her. I'm 3 weeks in, so far so good.

I recommend always speaking with a doctor for any change in a prescription med.

Go to your doctor now! Everyone reacts differently to meds. You and your dr have to find the one that helps.

You should never stop anti-depressants without coordinating it with your dr.

I have PTSD and depression. I tried 3 different anti-depressants before we found one that really helped. Years later, we added Buproprion (generic Wellbutrin).

Given what I know, I'd never take prozac. There are so many other options that don't have the same side effects or interactions with other medications.

I joyfully take medication because it helps me live a normal, happy, fulfilled life. I'd never stop them without going through my dr.
