I have T2 Diabetes. Tried ozempic and could not tolerate it. It was effective in lowering my A1C and I did lose weight as a nice side effect. I have been off it for over 6 months and my morning readings are about 20 points higher than when using it. So I met with my endo today for bloodwork etc. We talked about my numbers and ozempic effect both positive and negative. I like that it helped lower my A1C but didn't like the gastro intestinal effects it had on me. We talked of several meds including Trulicity. She shared that her patients had success with it and reported fewer gastrointestinal issues. Have any of you had experience with Trulicity and willing to share your experience? Thanks!

I'm a Type 2 diabetic and took metformin for years as well. I no longer take any meds and my A1C was 5.7 when I saw my Dr on 9/25. I thought I could just eat what I wanted as long as I was taking the metformin but after having a right knee replacement in Sept 2019 and developing a staff infection, I had to have a second knee replacement after they removed the first replacement, had me using a walker and on home IV antibiotics which caused problems with my kidneys putting me in the hospital for a week and taken off metformin. I eventually had a second replacement but was never put back on metformin or any other meds so I decided to stop eating whatever I wanted, make a much better choice of diet and lost about 45lbs. Now I'm down to a size small and my daily fasting bs is under 100. That experience was something I never want to go through again. I now mentor members of my church who have diabetes and want to make a change to get their diabetes more under control. We discuss diet and exercise and feedback has been great. Congrads on your numbers being good ! My prior repeat surgery numbers were right at 6.3 but it's so much better now. I'm no longer interested in eating "whatever I want" I bake fish, eat turkey, veggies and occasional keto low carb chocolates from a company called "The no sugar company" My doctor says I don't need to check my FBS every morning just 3 x's a week but I check daily just to keep myself on track. Best wishes that your numbers stay under 6

For those with type 2 or even those who just want to lose weight why not change your eating habits and exercise? It infuriates me that everyone wants a free pass with their health. Taking a specific drug, for diabetes, to lose weight? Just adjust your lifestyle. Sure, I'm a type 1 but I was out of control with my weight a few years ago (even though I had excellent A1C readings) and I started a walking regime. I've lost 70 lbs and have kept it off. Yes, still walking today, not planning on regaining it. My A1C is 5.3 and has been since I began my healthy journey. This is something your doctor should be talking about. I'm sure my post will not be liked but just another perspective on this subject. JMO

Unless you adjusted your eating plan, you could not lose weight. But wait, Little secret all us Type 1 diabetics know, forgo a dose of insulin and voila!! 3 pounds gone in a couple of days. Unless you are a Type 2 yourself and because you need insulin you call yourself a Type 1?

Without a C peptide test telling just how much insulin they produce, Type 2 diabetics are not always going to not need meds to help them control their illness. Some Type 2 diabetics need meds because they fail to produce enough insulin. NO FAULT OF THEIR OWN

EITHER.

I have had Type 1 diabetes for 53 years and I chaired diabetic support groups for fifteen years. Anyone who understands diabetes knows that Type 2 diabetics suffer from hyperinsulinemia and that excess circulating insulin that doesn't work to bring down glucose levels builds fat. Not the fault of the patient!! Not a lack of will power but a metabolic disorder that often needs medication.🙄

Some go into remission but many have pancreatic burnout and eventually graduate from oral drugs to insulin. However, not all patients that use insulin are Type 1. There are some Type 2 diabetics who need insulin but are still considered Type 2 diabetics.

@on the bay, don't forget we can't see this Poster. The Poster remind me of an episode I saw some time ago where someone said she was a ballet dancer but when the guy say her she was in a wheel chair. The Poster does this everytime and it seems as if she searches for Threads that contains anything about diabetes and it's the same thing everytime.

I think some time ago you mentioned you would like to lose a few more pounds. Don't know the answer to this but after you have reached your desired weight would the dosage be lowered or would you just continue with the lifestyle you were doing while taking the Trulicity to maintain the weight?

I was on Trulicity for type 2 Diabetes for about 9 months. I had a weird case that last year three months after having Covid and dealing with my husband's cancer diagnosis my sugar went crazy.. I had normal blood sugar before that. Last November my A1C shot up to 10.7. They put me on Metformin and my stomach could not tolerate it so they put me on Trulicity. I lost 30 pounds the first couple of months and I was on a low dose. My next two A1c's dropped to 5.9 and the last one was 5.5 and my blood sugar went back to normal. Kind of a fluke. I didn't have too many side effects from Trulicity but I couldn't eat fried food. It also made me very constipated which was the worse part. I only got to level 1.5 and after being on it for a month or so, the hunger suppresion went away. I think I then actually craved sweets. I was taken off of it because my blood sugar was normal again. I get tested in another month and am curious to see if I am still normal. I have had a bad sinus infection and my blood sugar has been up.

I think these drugs effect everyone in a different way. I still need to loose about 30 pounds and I watch what I eat and move alot. At my age 63 -- and my genetics I can't seem to loose more. As a lot of the recent research shows you can eat healthy and workout and still not loose the weight. For those of you that don't have this issue you are lucky and shouldn't shame other people.

I hope at some point if Monjarno is available for weight loss I will give it a try.

And go back to the lowest dose of Trulicity. I'm at 1200 calories a day now. That's what I think but we'll see what my doctor says in the New Year.
