Good RX is fantastic!

I just had three prescriptions filled at Walgreens and asked for the cost before committing to the purchase.

One eyedrop was $120.00, a nose spray was $40.00, and a saline solution was $10.00.

Not keen to drop $170.00 on 3 prescriptions because I also had several over the counter things to get as well (which totalled $68.00, BTW...) I asked how much if I used GoodRX instead of my Insurance co-pay.

The eye drops were $39.98, the nose spray was $20.00 and the saline was $10.00. $69.98 instead of $170.00.

I'll take $100.00 in savings every day! I don't know how they do it and I don't care. I can find a million more enjoyable pursuits for my $100.00!!!!

Great reminder......You cannot use Good Rx AND insurance together but you can use Good Rx instead of your insurance. I've had occassion when in spite of having a good Part D, Good Rx was better coverage.

I discovered the same thing! Good RX has saved me a LOT of $$$ even though I have a prescription plan. It's just cheaper to use one of their coupons instead.

Just recently I had a generic medication that is over $300.00 for 90 days with my Rx plan. I went online and got a coupon from Good Rx and the medication cost me little over $100.00. Almost $200.00 in savings!

You just have to put in the exact name of your medication, the dosage and number of pills. You will get the Good Rx price from a variety of local pharmacies and the prices can vary by quite a bit.

Unfortunately, I need to take a large number of prescription medications and for a two month period I was without health insurance and had to pay completely out of pocket.

What I found out - the prices at Walgreens and CVS are so much higher than other places, even with Good Rx, so it pays to shop around.

I agree, Good Rx can be beneficial, but I have found that hands down, once enrolled in the Costco discount plan for individuals without heath insurance, their prices cannot be beat.

As an example, one of my medications:

30 pills/one month supply:

Walgreens - regular price: $1,126 with Good Rx $312.00

CVS - regular price $ 988 with Good Rx $297.00

Costco price: $68.76

This is for the EXACT same generic medication - each store carried the same generic from the same manufacturer.

While Costco may not be the cheapest for every drug, it pays to investigate. For every single one of my medications, the Costco price was cheaper than any other retailer

And YOU DO NOT NEED A MEMBERSHIP to use the pharmacacy - it is open to all!

Well, perhaps not quite -- at least not for all stores. Maybe better to say 'You SHOULDN'T NEED A MEMBERSHIP..."

My elderly father was just turned away the other day trying to refill a prescription he had previously filled at that exact same location. I even went down there and spoke to the manager to inquire. The manager said this is Costco's policy, and it was out of his hands. He offered us the opportunity to sign up for a new membership on the spot, but we needed to run the numbers before committing.

Best to call and check policy with your local Costco before counting on it.

@781Florist That savings is impressive and I don't blame you for using Good RX. Just be aware they sell your health information and are currently being sued. Hopefully they learned their lesson. If you start getting ads and emails regarding any diagnosis that aligns with meds they gave you a discount on you'll know why.

I wasn't aware of Good RX....thanks. Very rare that we need a prescription, but it is good to compare costs if prescription is a high dollar item. The privacy issue concerns me and I'll probably do some research. Thanks @simplyfriends for that information.

My bunny needed prescription eye drops and they were $120. Goodrx had them for $27 at Walmart.

I do the same comparison shopping when I use Good RX. In my area, Costco is the most expensive by far. It might depend where someone lives.

I just have the app on my phone. When you search a med you will get several prices from various chain pharmacies. If you chose to use it a code will show that the pharmacy will input. Remember if you use the code you cannot file insurance too.

Maybe others can comment as to using flex spend funds.

That is horrible - according to the Costco website one does not need to be a member to shop at the pharmacy - I would call Costco corporate office and let them know what happened - they would want to know if one of their warehouses is not abiding by corporate policy

@781Florist I've been banging the Good Rx drum for years. In the last 4 years I estimate I've saved at least $300, likely more, and that's with Medicare and United Health Care.

Only once was my Medicare cost a few dollars cheaper than good Rx and that was for a one time Rx.

I told my son abut Good Rx a long time ago and he uses it for his family as well.

@phoenixbrd I found them years ago when they advertised on TV all the time, now it's rare.

I was skeptical at first but did my due diligence and found them to be legit. I posted that I've saved hundreds of dollars over the years and that's with edciare and a good supplemental plan.

It can be very good and can be used in lieu of Part D Medicare. Also good for certain animal Rx, like insulin for cats 🐱

Has anybody compared them to the other discount app I've seen advertised on TV with the celebrity endorsement (Martin Sheen)? I think it's called Single Care.

I currently only have cheap generics so haven't really needed them.

Amazon Pharmacy has some steep discounts on generics too. I recently checked. They also provide some medical services.

You do not need a membersip to use Costco's pharmacy. But, Costco Membersip Prescription Program, their discount program, is available to Costco warehouse club members only.
