If you're looking for a stationary bike

I recently purchased this "as is" Cyclotron hands-free exercise bike F198580. It's been marked down twice since I ordered it, so today I was able to get another credit. For $125 this is a steal. It's high quality, good welding, and easy to move since it has wheels. I'm only 5'3" so I have to get a step stool to get on it. It was my first "as is" purchase and it's like new. I do think it was a customer return though unless the parts jiggled around inside the box during it's shipment by UPS. Probably someone that opened it up, found out a few pieces had to be assembled, and decided they didn't want to mess with it. It took me 10 minutes to put it together.

Can't imagine people my age riding a stationary bike like this one. Hands free? Hands/forearms and upper arms are part of ones stabilization when riding a real bike.

When I look at this I visualize it as a unicycle, or a bike with: "look ma, no hands". I personally wouldn't have gotten on one of those 20 years ago, and I was at the top of my fitness back then(pre heart attacks).

If it works for some, great. I just wouldn't recommend this thing to anyone as a way to get the most out of a workout as possible as a hands on or recumbent exercycle.

ETA: Wrote this the day this thread went up. Must have got 1 of those pink messages "correct this or that", where it doesn't post.

John, I turned 70 in January and I ride it! Like I said, I need a step stool to get on the seat since I like my leg on the lower pedal to be almost straight but I feel secure on it. I'm not trying to use it as a spin-class bike. And I plan on getting a standing desk so I can use it while on the computer.

I am happy it works for you and your type of use. To me it looks like an accident waiting to happen. Pretty well explained why it wouldn't be a piece of equipment I would recommend, for the reasons I mentioned.

Yikes, I'd be afraid to use a bike without handlebars. My reclining stationary bike was relatively inexpensive but it has handlebars, and is adjustable in a number of ways to fit my 5'2" frame.

My hat is off to you that you feel secure on that bike.
