Quinine water helped my mother with her leg cramps. Much less intense and less frequently. She bought quinine water in the supermarket just like other mixers and sodas. She liked Schweppes but maybe that was the easiest to find. It definitely worked.

I take magnesium glycinate and magnesium citrate. The glycinate version is more of a relaxer than the other forms of magnesium. It is suggested to take it at night. I take that form at night as I have fibromyalgia and tend to have a lot of issues when it comes to sleep and not sleeping well. The oxide version is the least absorbed. But you also have to make sure that you do not take all the magnesium at one time because otherwise you will be spending a lot of time in the bathroom.

There are a number of magnesium versions. There is a book called the Magnesium Miracle that is by my bedside. It helps in explaining a lot of what magnesium can do to help with health.

Potassium gluconate powder. I add it to my food, about 4 grams total for the day. Has done wonders for my muscles, dry skin/eyes, constipation, frequent urination and fatigue.

Potassium is a mineral most commonly associated with muscle cramp prevention.

I take a shot of pickle juice. Settles down my leg cramps.

I take a Calcium-Magnesium supplement by Andrew Lessman. I still get leg cramps on occasion. So I always have a jar of pickle juice as back-up.

When I had leg cramps, my doctor said Magnesium Glycinate might help. I took it for a couple of months but it didn't help. The cramps lessened on their own. I get them occasionally now.

The biggest contributing factor to my leg cramps is the fact I don't drink enough water. My normal doses of B12, and D, work fine as long as I drink more water every day. Magnesium turns into a laxative for me.
