Question- Insurance coverage with OTC benefits

My husband's new insurance pays $100 a quarter for OTC items used specifically by him. I've read the list of covered products. As an example, Listerine is not covered but a rinse for dry mouth is covered. I'm going to need a very detailed receipt to submit with our claim. Could anyone tell me which stores provide detailed receipts? I was thinking of shopping at Meijer, Target or CVS. I'd hate to spend $100 at Target only to find specific things listed with generic terms like 'mouth wash' or 'vitamins'. If you think I sound pretty dumb about shopping locally, let me explain that I get our OTC items through Amazon. Since I don't get an actual receipt from them, I figure I can't use Amazon anymore.

@AuntG You can print your Amazon invoice(s), which are very specific. Just go to your orders, find the product(s) you purchased, click on view invoice, and then right at the top in blue, click on print this page for your records. Hope this helps!

When I use to work, my company's insurance company also paid for certain OTC items.

I retired almost 5 years ago. Things have changed quite a bit since then. After 75 years my company disappeared. Not sure about any changes for reimbursements for OTC items.

BUT when I was working, I would submit the original receipts from any retail store. The person from our HR Department reviewed what I submitted. And she would approve the refund and submit to the insurance company. She never had any trouble with my receipts and the information on them, from any retail store that I went to. She always approved everything that I submitted. And my refund was always for the exact amount that I requested.

I'm guessing the insurance could guess by the nature if the product whether it is likely to be used by the insured or could be used by anyone. For instance, female incontinence pads aren't likely to be used by the whole family like Bandaids would.

@AuntG I remember years ago receiving a Card to shop at any Store and didn't have to turn in a receipt. Just had to spend it all before the quarter was up.

Now I'm with Medicare I get $115 a quarter but I have to shop on line from their catalogue. Don't like that too much because i don't need a lot of the things offered.

l have $50 a quarter on mine . It's pretty easy to order of their on line store . l would love to just go to walmart to get what l want but seems like a big hassle .

I get 80.00/per quarter, on my Priority Health ins. The last couple of years, i could order online, from Walmart. Well, they changed it and now, you have to go into the store. My problem is, I don't know what will be covered. Before ex: small bottle of nexium would be covered but not large one. Big priced difference that i would like to know before check out. The generic catalog is really kind of lame, with their offerings. free ship is good thing, though. CVS and Riteaid participate too.

@10sluvr I understand what you mean about ordering from the catalog. Sometimes I end up buying the same things over and over because I have to use it before the quarter ends otherwise I lose it.

What I like about it is that it's shipped by Fedex and I get it in two days and the catalog has the prices.
