@NYCLatinaMe , I almost finished my second month. I have the 300 mg tablets sold on shophq. It took about 6 wk to see an effect. First, I sleep much better. Second, I notice my mood is better. Less anxious, more patience, less tense. I started them bc of senior moments. I'm in my late fifties. That is improving as well.

I have tried several things, but not this product.

Currently trying Winged Wellness cbd sleep gummies- hemp and not having consistent results. I can't double the qty I take because if I take more than 3 mg of melatonin I get horrible dreams.

Another report:

Elysium is aware of this study, and we have reviewed it with our scientific team—the research was poorly conducted and the articles covering it are spreading misinformation. We have found numerous additional issues that support our position that neither this article nor the related media coverage is credible (more details below).

One of the authors has even publicly stated, "The title of the news article 'Popular Dietary Supplement Causes Cancer Risk and Brain Metastasis' is clickbait material and totally inaccurate from a scientific standpoint. The experiment in [the article] does not allow for this conclusion."

Elysium has been in contact with the journal, which is investigating and has already issued an "expression of concern" about the article noting that “they are seriously taking action following the publisher's protocol with the engagement of the publisher's Ethics team.” Elysium has also reached out to the university, which has issued several corrections to its press release and is conducting its own investigation.

1. The first experiment on the FVB mice with or without NR in the diet did not come close to reaching statistical significance for tumor formation. Any scientist would consider this data as grossly misinterpreted. Based on this alone, the paper should not have been published.

2. In the second experiment, the mice were genetically engineered to have no thymus, without which they cannot make T cells. This is a terrible design to assess tumor growth, because the mice totally lack an immune system. Thus, it is not a model for human cancer at all. It also employs injection of tumor cells followed by scoring of where tumors form. Since there is no primary tumor, brain tumors do not represent metastasis, as the authors claim, but simple homing. It's made worse by the fact that the mice were inoculated with an already metastatic cancer cell line. In sum, conclusions about metastasis cannot be drawn from this. In addition, the experiment also only barely reached significance - given all of this, it does not come close to passing muster.

3. The injected dose of NR in the second experiment was unnecessarily large, equivalent to nearly 400X the standard daily recommended dose of NR in humans, which is 250mg. This was administered daily. Human NR supplements only raise NAD+ back to youthful levels, a modest increase within the normal range of human biology. This standard NR dose has not been shown to cause or increase the risk of cancer. We assume that this incredibly high dose was necessary for the function of the AzNR probe, and have appealed to the journal to clarify this point. To that end, we have also reiterated that the probe should be the focus of the paper and the immensity of the dose should be clearly communicated.

4. Finally, no dietary supplement that Elysium is aware of contains AzNR, yet all the mice that were administered NR in the second experiment also received AzNR. The inclusion of AzNR makes it impossible to conclude what NR alone is or is not doing.

Including this study, we know of no credible evidence that NR supplementation affects cancer or metastasis or has any material impact on adjuvant chemo or radiotherapy. The novelty of the paper relates to the new AzNR probe, and the two mouse experiments are without merit. Individuals receiving treatment for cancer should consult with their physician before starting or stopping use of Basis. Research and further information on Basis is housed on our website here, should you want to share this directly with your physician.

Unlike the unnatural scenario in this study, Basis has been studied in at-risk populations. In 2019, Elysium even announced the acceptance of an Investigational New Drug ("IND") application by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to evaluate the efficacy of Basis for the prevention of acute kidney injury (AKI) in surgical cardiac patients, a unique achievement for a dietary supplement. The IND acceptance enabled the initiation of a Phase II, randomized, double-blinded, placebo-controlled clinical trial to evaluate the efficacy of Basis for kidney protection against AKI in patients treated by complex aortic aneurysm repair and aortic arch reconstruction, which began at Mayo Clinic in 2020 and is estimated to complete in 2024.

It's a known fact that cancer cells have high metabolic needs, including processes requiring NAD. and many types of cancer cells boost NAD making enzymes. At the present time it's not been proven ( as far as I can tell) whether supplementing NAD will make cancer cells grow faster and metastasize but it is thought that it does by some. I for one am not going to risk it.

I just thought I would share in case people were unaware and to read up and make their own decisions.

I'm also of the camp that believes we should get most of our vitamins, etc from whole foods. I feel that supplementing most things isn't ideal because it's all a balance. It just makes sense that too much of one thing could throw off that balance. Also the number of things we could supplement is mind boggling, picking and choosing between them seems like such a crapshoot.

I take it. It's believed that aging is caused by fraying of the telemeres. It supposedly helps repair the frayed ends. Also, they are selling the original version on ShopHQ. The new version also has Tumeric & Vitamin C.
