We bought one not that long ago and while it is comfortable to set in to watch tv, it is not comfortable for me to sleep in...so we are on the hunt again.

I need one that lays all the way back when it's my hips that are hurting and I also need one with plenty of padding when my shoulders are hurting and not too hard. Are any of yours like that?

After my open heart surgery, I was so miserable because the chair in my hospital room was way too hard and I could not get comfortable the whole time I was there. The bed, too, was very uncomfortable. I NEVER want to go through that again! Any info you can give me as to your favorites would be helpful. I sleep in a chair probably 75% of the time.

I've looked around, mostly online, and it's hard to find chairs that fully recline. It's usually just the very, large, very expensive ones for which I have no room.

Check out Catnappers. I've been know to unintentionally nap in mine. I find them moderately priced, and comfortable.

Also it's a family owned American company (Jackson Furniture) if someone wants an additional incentive.

I hope you have a store in your area. I had slept in mine for years until I bought a Sleep Number mattress with an adjustable frame. They have many styles for different body sizes. Keep trying them just like Goldilocks would do. One will fit. Sit in it a while before purchasing. Recliners need to fit just like shoes or bras. Wrong fit=uncomfortable chair.

I just bought a Tempurpedic Ease adjustable bed frame, and I love it. It is the least expensive adjustable base that they make, but is just like their others without the bells and whistles like massage, lights under the bed and more. I have a Serta hybrid mattress that I bought six years ago, and it works well with it.

@jubilant

For my present recliner, which is about 4+ years old. I decided to go with an electric motorized model. Knew this would give me multiple recline positions, where manual ones, are very limited in the recline positions.

Other than feeling comfortable as a start, my top priority was the degree of recline. My present one reclines, at max, I would say about 80-85°. Not quite completely flat, but darned close.

It was between this one and one that had also a lumbar support motor. I liked the lumbar support option, but that chair did not recline near as much, and was not quite as comfortable. And this model came with a 5 year motors warranty, the other only 1 year.

My wife liked this chair so well, we decided to buy another one, just exactly the same. They were about $450 when we bought them, but now? I have no idea what their cost may have risen to today.

I would have to look for the paperwork to find out the brand name. Chair is very heavy and the names are usually underneath around the frame somewhere. My wife is off Pet Sitting until a week from tomorrow, so I don't know if she may have moved where I keep these purchase invoices.

If I find the brand name, or by some miracle I remember the name, I will come back to this thread and let you know.

Right now when I am in my recliner, at least 75% of the time, I have a dog and a cat occupying it with me. And it is still very comfortable!

hckynut 🇺🇸

Well, just wanted to let everyone know that we found two chairs. I don't know how many I tried but it was a lot. We ended up buying a Flexsteel and one called Homestretch (which I had never heard of) They were both very comfortable with lumbar and neck adjustments (motorized, too) They will be delivered this coming Saturday. Thanks everyone for all the advice. DH told them he would buy both if they gave him a good deal. They ended up knocking off $600.00!

DH loves to dicker so it took a while!

Unfortunately, I can't get out to test recliners. I'm also short and find many recliner (when I could try them out) to be too big.

@Sushismom Homestretch Power Wall Hugger (Saver) Recliner. This is the one I probably will sleep in. I'm not sure my feet touched the floor in this one but, with the power, it didn't matter. The other one is:

Flexsteel...1041-50PH 946-72 This one will go in my living area. They are both wall huggers so they don't take up so much room. I think I could sleep in either one.

Here is a picture of the Flexsteel: power buttons on the side. The Homestretch chair has a hand held power remote control and is softer than the Flexsteel which is somewhat firm but, to me, still comfortable.

Hope this helps!

@jubilant : I am short with hip and back problems. I have a very comforting lay flat recliner but was needing a power lift recliner. I made a terrible expensive mistake. I purchased a Catnapper power lift and hate it. It doesn't sit close to the wall to recline. It doesn't lay flat. It has the power wand instead of the buttons on the side. With the power wand can't find the position that I need. Thankful that I kept my old recliner to sleep in at night. I use the new one during the day for the lift feature but very uncomfortable to sit in. I am very upset with myself.

@SouthernBee Believe me, I understand how hard it is. I tried all the wall huggers thay had at a big store. Still they had a lot more that weren't wall huggers. I tried all the buttons till I was sure they had lumbar and the right neck positions for me. They delivered them a couple of days ago and I am really liking mine.

I'm only 5'3 and my feet don't touch the floor on the Homestretch recliner. It, however isn't so deep as some others I sat in...it just takes one swoop back and then I use the power controller to do whatever I need. Both of these chairs go back pretty far or , at least, as far as my body needs them, too.

I'm wondering if you could get an exchange after you have tried a chair out at home for a few days. They do that with mattresses. I guess we just got lucky this time because it's hard to make a decision. One time I did have a chair that was a rocker recliner and it tipped over on me! That was a shocker...Ha!

They did let me return it and pick out another chair.
