I have arthritis and as I get older (just turned 69) I feel it more and more. Mostly the achiness is in my hands and feet/legs and sometimes just all over when the weather changes. If I take Advil or Motrin it helps alot. I take 1 tablet a day when needed and it helps. I try not to take it often although once a day every day sure would be nice. What do you take for your arthritis? Is Celebrix still a popular medication? I have mentioned my current routine to my doctor and she said it is fine but to let her know if the discomfort worsens.

Neck, hands. My right knee was bad but joint replacement fixed it. Before I go to bed I take two Tylenol. That has really helped. Otherwise I would often lie awake, feeling the aching in my hands.
yes Celebrex is still prescribed, however I'm allergic to it or I'd be taking it. What is stopping you from taking one or two Motrin daily? Shouldn't be a problem.

I lived with arthritis pain for a while a number of years ago. I went to a pain clinic for shots in my back, but that proved ineffective for me long-term. Went for PT, which helped in conjunction with more PT in a warm water pool.

It was certainly helpful, but I kept looking for something that would help me get my life back by alleviating my pain. I began exploring supplements, and found that Lessman’s Turmeric 400 Curcumin, two tablets daily, worked wonders for me. Herbals used in many cultures for many years.

Believe it or not, my doctor has begun to prescribe these herbals for folks in such pain. If the weather is very wet, I can feel a bit of discomfort. But nothing like I used to feel.

People should never self-medicate with meds bought off the shelf in the drugstore. Always check with your doctor, as these medications can do you much harm with constant use.

You and your doctor may find roll-on pain relief lotions such as “Biofreeze” to help you.

If you can, it is very helpful to keep moving. As much as you can. Also, maintaining a good weight won’t hurt.

I am truly sorry for anyone who lives in pain, for any reason. I do hope that you find relief. And remember, that if your doctor recommends some pain medication for you, you likely will be better off than self-medicating. You would be tracked to eliminate permanent damage, I do believe.

All my best.

I witnessed my mother with severe arthritis and I swore I would do my best to avoid what could very well be my future. I will be 69 in Feb and don't have one pain whatsoever in any part of my body. Reason? I keep active. I am an avid walker, 5 miles a day. Don't say oh no I can't do that. Yes you can! The more you're active the more you will remove the pain. Ask any of your doctors, they will all say to stay active. Put those shoes on and WALK!

I'm your age and my arthritis is getting rough too. Anytime the barometer goes down, my arthritis pain goes up.

I tend to avoid taking anything unless it's too much to bear. I take extra strength tylenol/advil (one of each) when it gets bad. Tylenol cuts pain and advil/releve helps with inflammation. Now that it's cooler weather, I keep a heating pad handy.

I'm afraid if I quit moving that I'll quit moving. I continue to walk and changed to low impact and milder resistance training.

My doc sent me to pain management doc (arthritis/ degenerative disc disease, and recurring sciatica). His recommendation was physical therapy, ice packs, remaining active and Tylenol.

For me, getting out and walking everyday is effective, as well as home exercise routine for lower back and legs.

I just started on Meloxicam today for my arthritis (in my feet and knees and ankles). Hope it works. I do know that I can no longer take Advil while on Meloxicam, so if I need a "boost", it will have to be Tylenol.

I am 71 years old. In 2015 My hands started swelling and eventually had a very difficult time even turning a door knob. Eventually the pain took over my hands, feet, knees, shoulders. My general physician did some blood work referring me to a Rheumatologist (RA specialist) who confirmed what type of arthritis I had since there are several types of arthritis which may result in a different medication for eash one. I bring this up because it's important that people don't medicate themselves/ diagnose themselves. My RA arthritis (RA) which was confirmed by a Rheumatogist and started out with pills eventually now taking infusions every 8 weeks. No pain or deformities for the last 5 years! The earlier the type of arthritis is confirmed, the better the right medication is taken, the less physical problems. BTW in the beginning prior to seeing a Dr, I took very strong aspirin / Tylenol due to the pain, ultimately ended up in a emergency room to excessive bleeding. Yes, my nose bleeds lasted a very long time and lots of blood. Only to be told to stop taking aspirin and see my physician as a followup which of courseI eventually did. RA NEVER GOES AWAY so I will need infusions forever and maybe my medications will change in the future. I did up having lung scarring due to RA so I will admit that was the downfall of my RA..but not everyone with RA ends up with bad lungs.

I went to a rheumatologist and finally was able to tone it way down. I'm writing to say, be very carefull with the Advil and Motrin, very hard on your stomach. You can overdose on Tylenol, so don't do too much of it., hard on your kidneys. I use a salve called Blue Emu, doesnt smell, non greasy, and it seems to help my joints. I am allowed to take Tylenol and I do on occasion, but try not too often.

Thanks for all the replies. I forgot to add that I am not overweight, I am very active and I do pilates at home. I had to quit walking a year ago and then found I needed a hip replacement (severe arthritis, other hip shows nothing) which I had last march. That went well but I have not yet taken up the walking knowing I should. I work in a library and I am on my feet moving the whole time I am there, 3 days per week.

Has anyone tried using CBD oil or gel capsules? I have heard many positive results with these products.
