I need knee support. I had a huge meniscus tear fixed and have a lot of arthritis in the knee. I don't yet qualify under insurance for a knee replacement.

I can't find a brace or sleeve that will stay up or fit under pants. I'm fluffy so need xxl. What do you recommend?

Thanks!

Have your Dr. write a prescription for a knee brace and take it to a medical supply store in your area. They will measure and fit you with the right one, then order it.

This is how I got the hand braces I wear at night.

My orthhopod fitted me with a BREG brace that has hinges. I am bone on bone, and when it really bothers me, I put it on. In fact I have it on today. You don't have to get it from a doctor, though. I have found BREG braces online. They aren't cheap, but they are very effective.

I am in the same exact boat asd you are, had meniscus surgery in Jan. but still in pain from arthritis and carti;age loss, but not anywhere near a replacement. I tried a copper knee brace, does nothing. I do like Stopain roll on and take hyaluronic acid, msm, glucosomine and tumeric. My doc says keep weight down and exercise. He also injected me with Synvisc but it has helped me only minimually, ask your doc about it, many have excellent results. I also ook Meloxicam for 6 weeks but stopped, caused my BP to raise, which is why I wont use Voltaren cream . I am adding Boswellia to my supplement regimen. Also take collagen, all 5 types.

Try an online company called BraceAbility - they have a variety of braces for a variety of conditions. The website will tell you how to measure and sizes are up to 6x.

Be sure and check w/your physician to see if you require a brace with a side support or not.

I have purchased from them before

Here's what I did, @CalminHeart when my knee was troubling me:

Went to a local pharmacy (not chain where the employees really don't care) where they sell that sort of thing in addition to prescriptions, etc. I measured my knee and got the suggested size, and boy did it make a difference for me. It's some sort of stretchy, maybe neoprene, black. I wore it under pants. If you have a problem with that, get some inexpensive looser pants from Walmart or wherever until your knee is better. The brand I got was "FLA for living actively."

Years ago, when I was working in landscaping, I hid a severe knee injury from my husband who was battling cancer. I had to keep my strength up. Sometimes I would sit in the back of my work van on a job and just cry.

I never did learn the exact nature of my injury. I just started trying otc knee braces. I could not turn my knee laterally or bend it back. Just a good fitting velcro closure brace with side boning helped. I just told my hubs my knee was a little sore. I didn't try to wear it under pants, only shorts and dresses. I still had to cry in pain every day. Little by little, my knee healed. It took about two years.

I too have had issues with my knee. It was a stretched meniscus that was giving me all the trouble. Last Fall, my knee was "giving out" quite a bit and for days, I would be unable to walk without a cane because I could not put pressure on it. One time, I couldn't even bend my knee! I had rounds of PT that would help for a while but did not solve my problem. The Ortho Doc told me that I needed a knee replacement. I have had both my hips replaced and did not want a knee replacement since I was not in any pain until my knee "gave out." I tried a lot of different braces. Here's my savior - from AMAZON - PHYSiX Gear Support Knee Support Brace - I wear this brace when I walk and since finding it, I have not had a problem with my knee "giving out". I'm a walker and walk about 2 miles a day without any problems. Honestly, I feel it's a miracle. It does not slip down my thigh which other braces did and which I found incredibly annoying. It doesn't cost a lot of money. Find the right size for you and you will be all set!!!!
