Update. I had it done on all my uppers. (Crowns) I already had 3crowns and 3 implants so those were basically done.
Step#1 Made a mold of my teeth 3 wks ago

Step#2 The temporary teeth came in (one piece) My teeth were prepped, lots and lots of drilling and the temp teeth were put on. Step#3 I went back 2 days later to check my bite and teeth. More drilling to fit and feel comfortable. Step#4 I went back today for check up and to make changes. I wasn't completely happy with certain teeth( shape and size.) It's part of the process to make certain everything is the way I want it. It's like a sculptor shaping and chiseling. Step#5 I'll go back on the 18th and they'll do the final mold.
Step#6 Appointment to get my new teeth!
I hope this explains the procedure for anyone considering doing it. It's certainly more involved than I thought but looks so good.

I've had several zirconium implant crowns put in plus I'm having all of my upper front teeth crowned. At first I thought I could just have veneers but my dentist says crowns are a better option for me. So now I'm waiting for my crowns to get here.

Implant crowns are different b/c the implant part has to heal first. Takes forever but they are fantastic. My front teeth, otoh, will still be mine but with crowns on top of them.

I'm sorry not being specific. I'm having crowns on my upper teeth. I already have 3 implants and I believe 3 crowns. The crowns that are there weren't done very well. It's been several years but they don't all match in size and color. She will be preparing my teeth tomorrow and I'll wear the temporary set for 3 weeks to make sure the teeth are fitted perfectly and she can make any adjustments necessary. Then I will get the permanent teeth. Hope that makes sense. She's very experienced in this and has done this many times. Speaking with her she seems to take pride in her work and has no problem with having teeth redone if she's not happy with the tooth. I had a call in to her assistant Thursday or Friday. I didn't get a call back and imagine my shock when she called me Saturday. Never heard of that before. I could tell she was on the road but she insisted I wasn't bothering her. I'm just feeling anxious I guess and I was hoping to get other feedback. Thank you

@Loves Purple

All of my dental work has been done to restore lost teeth and serious recession. Just before I turned 50 I had all my natural teeth, including all four wisdom teeth, and never had a cavity or filling in my entire life. For all intents and purposes I had perfect teeth. Then I got an autoimmune disease (scleroderma) and all of that changed. It caused terrible gum recession and I lost many teeth.

I'm 67 now and I'm finally getting my teeth restored and replaced. There is still the possibility that more teeth will fall out with this disease I have but I'm taking it one step and one day at a time.

Good luck to you for your upcoming dental work. It's always a treat for me whenever I see an improved smile...one that I haven't seen on me for a long time but I'm working on it.

You can't see them at that step but then they cut your gum open and put on an abutment cap which you can see on the gum. Abutments take a few more weeks to let the gum tissue heal around them. The final step is when they put on the crowns on top of the abutments. It can take almost a year from start to finish.

During the implant healing time you cannot eat hard food. Only got 2 more to go and then I'll be done.

I remember you were considering it before Covid.

@Loves Purple I was going to have it done... then covid hit... and it gave me time for more reflection...

I know my teeth and I was afraid that shaving them down to nubs to have veneers would really not be a good thing...

I decided that now that I can wear a mask, it really does not matter too much as no one sees my teeth anymore. Just me. So , I decided to not go that route. Just keep my teeth healthy and in my mouth is my goal.

I will be going for a consultation with my prosthodontist and want to ask him about crowning my 4 front teeth in addition to the other work that needs to be done.

For those of you who have had your upper front teeth crowned, what was the process to determine the best size and shape? I really want to have this done but am afraid that I won't like the end result.

The bite is the most important part b/c you don't want them either too small or too big. Once placed onto your existing teeth, crowns may sometimes need minor adjustments (actual reshaping while inside your mouth) but not always. One of my crowns did not fit right and had to be removed and replaced with another. That did not cost me anything more in my case.

Those of you considering implants need to be aware that sometimes they fail. My DH had a mouthful fail and then had to have additional surgery to remove hardware and then go to full dentures. This is not unusual, so do your research!

I asked two different dentists and a dental surgeon about bonding my gaps and they all told me 'no'. That's why I have crowns now so it fills in the gaps. Too bad b/c bonding would have saved me $-thousands-$.
