There are actually a lot of medicine that will cause you to gain weight.

Medicine for fibromyalgia can make you gain weight.

Basically, several of the medicines for fibromyalgia are a kind of antidepressants. A lot of antidepressants cause weight gain.

I have a few other medications that says something like 'can cause weight gain.

Another thing a large number of medicines cause dry mouth. That's what I'm dealing with...dry mouth. It gets so bad sometimes it's difficult to talk.

I take a medicine to increase saliva. It's expensive. I guess people think, "just drink water'. I drink lots of water, but water isn't the same as saliva.

Anyway, I apologize for bla blaing. Just wanted the OP know there is always something that medicine causes while helping to get better.

I'm getting ready to have several medical procedures done and for some reason, the medications are making me hungry at night. I try to eat as late as possible, but I end up not being to hold off having a snack, and then I have to brush my teeth...again, and again, etc. I get tired of being hungry, then having a snack, having to brush my etc., rinse and repeat. But I remind myself I want to come out of this with not only my body intact but my teeth too.

Protein foods will fill and fat in foods would possibly help. But do seek dr's advice since we don't know if your meds and upcoming proceedure would allow for those type of foods.

The medications may be causing the increased hunger, but I bet there's some anxiety, too, facing those procedures.

As the night goes on and there are fewer life distractions, it's an opportune time to start ruminating about things coming up that may be worrisome. It happens to all of us at certain times when night falls. Snacks to the rescue. They offer comfort. I know this firsthand, when I'm feeling stressed.

Just remind yourself that you're really not starving, it's more of a want than a need and that things will settle when you have the medical procedures behind you. Set an unbreakable rule -- nothing by mouth after brushing teeth --- the first time. It's about mind over matter. You've got this.

I also agree that you should share your concerns with your physician, or treatment team. Watch your weight. You don't want to pile on pounds that are often so hard to take off.

I am always hungry but will not eat unless it is time to eat. Nothing would let me sway from my schedule. It is how I keep my weight down.

During those many decades it was also easy for me to ascertain this. Just because I was hungry, did not mean I had to eat.

I understand many meds can cause certain reactions in different people, but because one is hungry, that does mean you have to eat.
What did your doctor say when you asked him or her about this? If snack on protein, it won't drive your appetite the way carbs do and its filking. Sugar free yogurt, cottage cheese, cheese, sliced chicken or turkey, boiled egg. To name a few.
