Beyond the health benefits.... My closet fits again! I can wear pants that just did not fit anymore...and my tops and sweaters fit better too. It is just 12 pounds.. but it makes all the difference as to how I look and feel in clothes.

I had put the extra weight on gradually since 2013.... it just crept up little by little and I just hated getting dressed as I felt I needed to try to hide the extra weight that was in my belly and butt area.

Just feeling better about getting dressed is incentive to keep it off now. I lost the weight gradually since May. I would like to lose another 4 pounds and then stay between 130 and 135.

I know how that feels, had gotten down to my fighting weight 2 years before Covid. Then gradually started to take back some things a little more into my diet, still I had leveled off at a good place pre-Covid. I maintained that for over a year and figured it was ok not to be at my lowest weight if it meant just a little more fun.

But...Covid hit, personal loss, and just a tough year...drank more, snacked more, gained 15. And I just have not yet been ready to really get serious yet. I still exercise regularly but I know that won't make the difference until I balance my diet again and snack less. I need to not buy the "cryptonite" items I don't control well...like chips etc.

So GOOD for you! ~12 lbs is a size, not so easy to do, and feels great when clothes finally feel right again~enjoy!

Care to share any secrets that worked for you? I mean...I know what I should be doing, but I always love to hear what worked for others.

I've always said the thing I admire most about a person's accomplishments would be to loose weight AND keep it off.

I know how hard it is. I've lost a lot of weight here and there over the years. But I've put it back on right up to same weight.

I hope you are proud of yourself.

I love hearing about people who've lost weight and kept it off. It gives me hope.

😘

Just taking in too much, even healthy food, is too much. Always was healthy weight, still petite, but a little extra weight on me is a lot. Post menopause; it's more of a struggle keeping it off and I've just always been used to being able to take in more calories. I started to try intermittent fasting then quit. My doc actually suggested it, and said a lot of patients had had success with it. Everyone does it just a tad different I find. Can you share what your routine, timeframe of fasting was?? Thanks again. I too am looking for inspiration.

Two years ago, that I spoke of I saw a nutritionist. It was basically just the accountability, it was a balanced diet, with some limitations of amounts of alcohol, fruit, dairy & carbs per week while losing. I was very successful. Lost 1 to 1 1/2 lbs per week, never fluctuated back up, and got down to my healthy weight in about 4 1/2 months. Sounds long maybe, but I didn't mind losing slowly. Felt great! Just can't seem to do what it took then now.

Anyway...I'm definitely ready to get serious...and thinking I might try the fasting thing to jump start myself again.

South Beach (low carb) always helped me get it off but I always reintroduced the high carbs such as potato, bread, baked items corn..

Then 12-18 months later I would have the pounds creep back and then have to get back on the program.

By July 2020 (6 months into the pandemic lock down) I weighed more that I had ever--including pregnancy. I had jumped on the baking comfort band wagon. So I stopped as much sugar including baked goods as I could. Added sugars in ketsup, sauces are hard to control. I have lost 25 lbs and 2 sizes.

I think I have found my weight management silver bullet: sugar.

Since the middle of June, I've lost 8 lbs. without actually being on a 'diet'. I just made up my mind to stop alcohol, sugar and carbs. That leaves meat and veggies on the menu. Not exactly Keto, but pretty close, just very low carb. Limited dairy and fruit. No pasta, no potatoes, no rice, no bread, no snacks, no sweets.

Do I get cravings for junk food? Of course. Tortilla chips were always my comfort food...crunchy, salty, yum.

I figure it'll take a year to lose the weight I want to lose. Nobody is going to do this for me so I just made up my mind that now is the time.

You know that saying 'you're only as happy as you make up your mind to be'? Well, I'll only be as thin as I make up my mind to be.

@amyb @haddon9 I basically eat dinner once every 48 hours. I eat until full. I eat what I want...make healthy choices....On the days I do not eat, I drink hot unsweetened Almond milk only, and take a variety of herbs and supplements. So it is not a water fast by any means. I might ingest 300 calories of Almond milk per fast day. So maybe it is not REALLY a fast with the Almond milk...but I am not chewing food and swallowing.

Is it bad for my body if I eat only 3 days per week?

Is it bad for your body? No, I believe not.

Think of it like this: Humans evolved over the last 40 million years without supermarkets and fridges. Basically, humans ate when they found/caught some food, and went hungry when they didn’t. And they most certainly did not find/catch food on a regular basis at 08:00; 12:00 and 18:00 every day (or whatever your normal mealtimes are). Our bodies evolved to survive (no, not survive, but to actually thrive) on such a dietary regime.

You will do yourself no harm whatsoever with this eating regime unless you are seriously ill with cancer or something similar, in which case you may well need all the nutrition you can get. That is why I am NOT PROFESSING this fasting plan to anyone else. It worked for me. But, it may not be good for you.

My NP is super happy, says I could stop losing, but I want to go a little further. Not much, maybe 5 lb., and then go into maintenance.

I have lost 17 lbs since mid May. I had gained during the virus and was unable to shop or stand to cook. It was my back problem that kept me from monitoring the shopping and cooking. I want to lose another 15-17 lbs and then I will be in the size 6 category. One of my favorite affirmations is wearing my smaller size clothes, but I LOVE going into the grocery stores and holding up 15 lbs of potatoes. That is approximately what I lost.

The best part of losing weight?? Buying a new wardrobe of course!! I have always been a clothes horse...love shopping! I've just lost 70 lbs. I never thought I could do this but just by walking it melted off. I hold up my old pants and tops and just can't believe I lived many years at that size! Pretty much everything in my closet didn't fit anymore. I gave so much to our local second hand shop. We live in community that has a lot of those that need extra help so I was happy to give to those that really need it.

Congratulations on your weight loss. About 2 years ago, my BIL lost over 100 pounds. He said he cuts out carbs. He'd eat a hot dog or hamburger just no bun. Never any carbs. He started walking and with some sports he participates in....bowling, softball and just added in walking, it all came off. He has gained some back but not too much.
