I've heard that one can get addicted to laxatives. In regard to Andrew Lessman's 'Fibermucil', it says take one or two a day. I am concerned/wondering - would the 'Fibermucil' fall into the category of becoming 'addictive' too? (asking for a friend, haha)

Laxatives are usually made of chemicals which react with something in your gut to make you go. But a fiber supplement adds bulk to your stool and softens it so it passes through easier. Some people take both. I take a stool softener laxative (generic Dulcolax) plus I also take a psyllium fiber supplement. If I don't take both of those then I'm in trouble.

I have had a ton of stomach issues and other things and last year was treated by a doctor for some issues. I was told stimulant laxatives are not something that should be taken on a regular basis because your body could become dependent on them for going. I was told to take Miralax everyday. Miralax is considered an osmotic laxative meaning it draws water from your body into your colon. A softener draws water directly into the stool. Neither of these products do a thing for me.

I began taking a fiber supplement that I get through Love Wellness. You start off taking 1 a day for a few days so your body can get used to it. Then you increase to 2 a day for a few days and ultimately you work up to 3 a day. I do fine taking 2 a day so that is where I stopped.

I tried AL Fibermucil in the past and all it did was make me feel bloated and not good.
