Leaky Bladder

Hmmm, hope this isn't too much information...does anyone have the issue of after urination, you stand up, and urine leaks out? I have had a bladder lift many years ago, and I don't think this has anything to do with that. It is terribly annoying. I discussed with my gynecologist, and she said she has the same thing going on, and didn't offer a solution.

I know someone who had that problem. She was told to lean forward while going to make sure the bladder is empty. It worked for her. Now I have tried it and it works for me.

@nanny24 Sounds like your bladder is not completely empty. With me, I find that even if I think I am "done" if I lean over before getting up - yep, here comes the rest.

I have the same problem and do what you suggested above. It really helps.

@nanny24 I don't have any suggestion for your problem but I agree, I do find it irritating when a doctor makes a remark like that. It's not acceptable. I once told a doctor when he pays my copay we can talk about him.

Your doctor should have referred you to a urologist or another appropriate specialist. Instead you're here hoping to get any helpful information. Maybe you could ask your PCP. Be well.

I am almost 69, when I go now after i think I am done, I sit for another minute, and usually sure enough a tiny anount more comes out, then I know i am done!! Try that.

I have read all the suggestions posted so far.

One that is partially described on this board is to lean forward upon perceived " completion ". I was told to do the final step: press down as though you were completing a movement. Amazing what the bladder will let go !

I am 76 and this has worked perfectly for several years.

I think that seeing another specialist is a good idea.

I have a history of problems with kidney stones, so I see a Urologist periodically for that but he also helps with my bladder issues, too.

I have an overactive bladder with urgency and frequency issues, so I have problems with my bladder trying to empty too soon when an urge hits me. That's also very frustrating, too.

I have medication to take to help with my bladder.

The sitting in the bathroom and making sure that your bladder has fully emptied is a good idea. I do that, too.

This has been very interesting! Initially, I just figured it was probably about the situation that many women of a certain age deal with. (You know, like if you cough or laugh, or whatever)

I've not had this particular problem but, should it arise, I hope I remember the solution.

I've had ovarian cancer, kidney problems and diverticulitis. I spend 1/4 of the day in the bathroom. YES - that happens to me several times a day. The doctor prescribed a pill - and it wasn't effective. Very annoying!!!

Having to go more frequently is an issue which I think many of us have and many more don't like to admit! I have been on a couple medications which did not help terribly and bothered my eyes a lot, so I quit them. I was told to do the Kegel things and I did for a long time and they did not do much either. Then I was sent to some type of specialist who put these electrodes on me and it was some type of stimulation thing which was supposed to help -- I went for these treatments for quite a while. This also did nothing. So -- I go more often! Also, if I should get to the bathroom fairly quickly when I do get the urge. I have used the tip which many have stated here about leaning forward and find it does help. Also, just trying to relax and taking time is helpful.

I will go one just a bit further for you and some may laugh.

Since I do not sit on public toilets I am already leaning forward during the entire over the bowl process. I have found recently I need to do a little jiggle or bottom shake so to speak to tip out the last little bit. I am still working and have to use the Ladies Room on my office floor, so my little jiggle will probably be done a great deal in the future.

Since I think you are relatively new here, I will start with this. I am a male!

Been through about every Urinary Tract Test I have every heard of because on a "similar" problem, and others.Their finding? I have a small bladder. These were done after being prescribed 3 different prescription meds.

I am not familiar with every facet of what a Gynecologist practices, so I can only offer this.

You might consider seeing a Urologist. That's all I got. And I know "the feeling", without sitting down!
