well,dentist charged me 155.00 for a huge filling.i was relieved,thinking he would tell me I need a crown or get it pulled.does anyone think this fee is high?either way,I had to do something.guess I will scrimp back on shopping for the time being

I do not think that amount is high for a filling.

What does it matter if someone thinks the cost is high or low? You got your tooth fixed! You don't need a crown or root canal! Problem solved. If I were you I would be dancing for joy that it was fixable. And yes, the cost is reasonable.

I think I have stated,when I was married,health and dental benefits were over the top awsome.now being on my own,I have to pay for dental.really can hurt the pocketbook

oh trust me,I am doing the happy dance.but as I've said,kinda hurts in the money purse.and 1 good thing,I got extra novicane,novice, I did not feel any pain.dr kinda ticked me off tho.said I was worse than a child in a laughing matter.oh well,he fixed the problem

@Luvsmyfam I agree the old dental policies were really nice. We have dental coverage now thru my husband's employer (a large hospital system) that is awful. Does cover cleaning, but for more exotic things like crowns and fillings the billers at my dentist say I am really "self pay". I think your bill was definitely reasonable for our area so hopefully is reasonable in your area.

I haven’t had a filling in a long time but that sounds reasonable to me. I sometimes pay more than that for a cleaning.

Put things in perspective....I just paid $6,000 for one extraction and two implants. I am looking forward to having two abutments placed ($900 each) and then two crowns. I had to have emergency surgery...had an infection. Would you believe I have insurance, the only thing they paid for was they reimbursed $400 for a portion of the general anesthesia. They won't pay for the any of the other costs. At least $10,000 out of pocket by the time I'm done depending on the cost of the crowns.

I am grateful that I have the ability to pay and that I'm healthy. Things could have been a lot worse. Life is full of challenges, I choose to be at peace.

Seems in the normal range. We have as basic dental plan from Met Life, highly recommend.

@Luvsmyfam I pay 100.00 for just a cleaning, if they do x-rays, it goes to 175.00. The last filling I had cost 160.00. This is probably an average price all things considered. Glad you were able to save the tooth and being able to pay for it is a blessing since you are like myself and don't have dental insurance.

When you get a tooth filled. The price is based on the size of the repair and material used. If you had a huge filling, you got a good price.

A small filling normally costs more than that. An Amalgam filling costs between $100 and $200. Composite material ( white ) costs $130 to $250.

Now, just pray that filling lasts. Often a large filling won't last very long. When it breaks down, you will probably need a crown. Don't bite into hard food with that tooth...baby it.

That's a good price. For the past year my dentist was also charging a COVID surcharge for PPE?

I had a crown last year it was $1000, upfront!! It was submitted to insurance and they paid 70%. Cleanings are always over $100 these days.

I agree with Carmine though about the size of the filling, it might just be a temporary fix.

@Luvsmyfam $155 is better than the $1,450 I just paid for a crown. At 75, I'd like to know when do I say "no" to these very costly expenses.

my dentist just charged me $200 each for three fillings, so don't feel bad and my insurance only covers two thirds of the cost.😳😬

I pay $80 for a filling. I think that's pretty low b/c it's done at a community dental clinic where their prices are established based on a sliding scale adjusted to your income. According to them I'm 'poor' so their prices are low compared to a regular dental office. Our community here is fortunate to have such services especially for people who do not have insurance like myself.
