I take Cooper Complete Turmeric Curcumin Complex Supplement. They are not capsules but instead are tightly pressed tablets.

If you are on meds, check if this agrees with what you may be taking. Doesn't work well with blood thinners and some other drugs.

Turmeric works for me but not just any turmeric. I look for one with 100% curcumin extract (standardized to 95% purity) + black pepper added to it for absorption in the gut. Be sure to read the label carefully. If you see 'blends', 'blended with' or 'proprietary' that's a good indication the supp contains a mixture of turmeric spice root powder (cheap stuff) and extract (expensive stuff) which would be reflected in the lower price. Pure extract is what you want b/c that contains the active component (curcumin or curcuminoid) which is what gives us relief from pain/inflammation. Recommended amount is approx 1500 mg daily, usually divided into 2 or 3 doses taken with food.

Some people say that turmeric never worked for them. That might be b/c they weren't taking the extract but rather the root powder. Another reason why some say it doesn't work could be b/c their dose was too low. Dosage is important.

Currently I am taking this one from amazon. The price is outstanding for what you are getting here.

@Sapphiregal Another vote here for Andrew Lessman. Look up the item on HSN and read about it, lots of info there. I have arthritis in my lower back and take his Turmeric daily with a multivitamin (his brand too, of course). Good luck.

Just FYI---research turmeric if anyone is taking Tamoxifen--a breast cancer drug---they don't do well with each other---don't remember all the details.

I use this one that I get on Amazon. (pic below) Does anybody else notice that if you handle these capsules it turns your fingers and fingernails yellow? I had to start using a disposable-type glove when I fill my vitamin thing and then, when it's time to take them, I empty them into a small thing and pour them into my mouth so I don't have to touch them and end up having to scrub my hand and nails.

BTW, I only take one cap a day. A lot of times they just put the dosage way higher than it needs to be.

Exactly. Please consult with your oncologist if you have a history of estrogen + Breast cancer and are taking meds for it. Tumeric reduces the efficacy of those drugs, leading to an increase of estrogens, possibly leading to another occurance of breast cancer. I am on Femara and I was told not to take tumeric or anything that had it as a componant. I was instructed not to even use it in my cooking.
