2nd shot and done

Yahoo!! Finally got my 2nd shot and so did my DH. We will still follow recommended procedures but we are considering going out to eat for the first time in over a year. We have done curbside but not had the experience of eating out. It will celebrate his birthday and we are looking at places that offer special seating etc.

@Bigdoglover YEA! I get my second shot on March 7th... DH on March 15th. Feel blessed to be so fortunate!

My 2nd is scheduled for March 3rd and I have lung disease, so I can't wait!

Heck, I've been self isolating since March 2020 except for 2 Dr. appts.

DH also has auto-immune disease, so we have to be careful.

I am in NO way dissing anyone who chooses not to get the vaccine, it's completely a personal choice and what you believe.

@Bigdoglover Isn't it a great feeling to be able to resume a bit of what we had? I'm getting my second shot Saturday and I'll be able to see my son and granddaughter more! 😍 I'll still wear masks but the vaccine is peace of mind!

@Bigdoglover So glad you were able to get your shots. I got my first shot last Thursday.DH is scheduled to get his first shot next Wednesday.

It took me a long time to schedule our vaccine appointments. It took hours of checking the State website to finally snag the appointments.It's funny but DH was eligible before me yet his appointment is 10 days after mine.I'm grateful to have gotten them because I know many people who have not had any luck.

In Washington state they have phases for who can sign up to get the shot..... the phase we are in now is for those 65 or older and those 50 and older living in a multi aged household with people 65 or older...... the next phase will start next month allowing younger people to get the shots...

What is the period of time after getting ones 2nd vaccine, that the CDC and other "experts" say the vaccine becomes the most effective, primarily from transmitting it?

Heard 1 of the "experts" on several newscasts, mention 2022!

This is not for a political response. I would like to see if there are different understandings from those that are completely vaccinated.

I get my 2nd Pfizer on March 5th. My life is pretty simple, so it didn't change much over the last year. There were things beyond my control that changed, most had little effect on my life. Unlike many others that have commented here, having my 2nd injection will change little.

We get our 2nd shot Monday morning at 2am. Yup 2am. We chose that time because what the heck. Get the shot and go eat breakfast at Denny's. Husband took the day off work so if we're tired we can just go back to bed. Anyway, our lives won't change much. We go out all the time, zoos, restaurants, movies, shopping etc.. Having the shot just makes us feel safer.

I've been reading about this recently too as it seems they have changed recommendations again or else I didn't read it all correctly the first time. At first I thought we should wait 2 weeks to have full effectiveness of the vaccine.

Many news/health sites say

that the first vaccine is about 90%

affective after 2 weeks of the vaccine and after the 2nd vaccine it is 94% effective for moderna and 95% effective for the pfizer (edited to add) -after 7 days!

Yet, another site says the pfizer vaccine is 90% effective after 3 weeks of the first vaccine.

It also said that the vaccine is not effective right afterwards and that may be why more people are becoming infected with covd right after getting the vaccine because they are more likely to let down their guard.

Of course these may change every day so we just have to keep reading about it. It can all change and or get very confusing. But I think it is also because scientists and researchers

are learning about this every day.

You can just put your question into the search bar and see all the answers that come up. Many say the same thing, so those might be the latest and you can look at the date of the article.

I'm in Washington too and haven't been able to find an appt for the first shot. Wondering why WA hasn't been getting the allocation that we were hoping for. No sites have had any appts for the past 3 weeks. And it doesn't look like anything is going to open up before 3/1. Getting very frustrated!

@hckynut I was told at the vaccine site that regardless of which vaccine you get it will take 10-14 days to become fully protected.

Good luck, hope you get a call or email from someone . Unfortunately, the way the States have implemented scheduling people has been a nightmare. I am a RN and I think honestly the local health department nurses and staff need Nurses with some true Leadership skills . What good is a public health dept if you can't get this together.

I think there has been tremendous red tape and all this " you have to make an appointment has slowed the process to a crawl " . I think that staff are using an excuse that they don't have enough vaccine just to cover their incompetence .

plan to see grandkids. They've already had virus.

We plan to go to casino, masked and gloved and early

am.

@Bigdoglover we got our second shot last Wednesday and even though we knew we wouldn't be fully protected or whatever they are calling it, we did stop and have lunch.

It was the first time in 11 months that we have eaten out.

It was so nice not to have to cook it or clean up afterwards!

I just keep getting message currently unavailable. I am eligible just cannot register. Just tells me to check back. It has been weeks.

I'm so sorry-yes this was the original

recommendations.

Now they say after 2nd shot, it takes 7 days after for it to be effective but still 2 weeks or 3 weeks after first to be effective. This was the change.

but who knows?!

I'll change that in my first post.
