Right now I'm so itchy that I could scrape my skin right off my bones.

I've been trying to figure out what's causing this because it came out of nowhere today, and I think I've got the answer: I tried a new laundry detergent and I think that's what is causing it.

I'll never use the dry version of Tide again. Oddly enough, I've been using the liquid version for years and never had a problem. I'm trying so hard NOT to scratch because I'm afraid it'll make things worse. I'm fortunate in that my DH is willing to give me a thorough back-scratch when I need it most.

When my son was a baby, his pediatrician told me to wash his clothes in the cheapest detergents I could find because they have the least additives. I guess this works for grown-ups too, lol!

I'm hoping this will go away by tomorrow and life can get back to normal. Whew!

You might want to take some benadryl for the itching. Your body is producing some histamines and that might help.

I've taken it a step further and recently switched to Tide liquid no scent, what a difference, love it.

@GoneButNotForgotten Oh geez I know exactly what you are going through! Years and years ago I broke out in a rash all over and it itched like crazy. After several days of agony, I went to the docs and she noticed that the rash wasn't on my face, neck or hands. She asked if I had a new laundry product and sure enough I had started using Era. She put me on steroids, and I had to switch to a mild laundry soap and rewash everything. To this day I will only use a mild, unscented detergent.

Hope you feel better. You might want to try an oatmeal bath to sooth your skin. Aveeno makes one.

Care Ve anti itch lotion or Sarna

showers less using cooler water, & mild dove bath soap

Tide free or Dreft baby detergent

Have the washer rinse clothes twice and No Fabric softner & no dryer sheets

Benadryl or oatmeal soaks and a good Dermatologist

my skin is sensitive and i have been using Ecos detergent with no problems at all!

I went through this last summer, drove me crazy, but it was something in the grass,and bushes, i say for your problem,try a natural detergent ,a mild body wash, and anti itch body lotion, good luck.

My ears have been itching since May! My doctor says there is no infection, no build up, she can find nothing wrong. Have tried prescription medications, OTC ointments, histamines, but nothing works. A friend of mine recommended Arnica Gel so I figured I would try it and it works but I have to use it every day or my ears keep itching. Nothing has changed in my hair/beauty routine that would cause this. It is a mystery.

If it's the outside of your ears and you're wearing masks with elastic ear pieces, it's possible you have a latex allergy. I have a mild latex allergy and they don't bother me, but I'm not wearing them for that long or every day.

If it's inside the ear, I have no idea. Glad the gel works for you.

@noodleann I hadn't thought ot that! The masks I wear most often are the ones worn in the hospitals. I work at a hospital so I have to wear the surgical ones, I can't wear my cloth mask.The itching started about the time this virus did. The itching is around the outside of my ear and just inside, however, the itch could be spreading inside from the outside. Thanks for the info!

I don't understand how you got "been in a cast for 8 weeks?" I've had all kinds of appliances attached to my poor, suffering body but somehow I've managed to not need a cast.

omgosh, I sure hope youcan find the cause. It's good that arnica gel works but it can't be any fun having to scrape out your ears every days.

Yesterday, I saw an article on the many uses of Listerine Mouth Wash.

One of them was to treat itching. I tried it on a place on my are that had been bothering me for a couple of hours - totally stopped the itch.
