Ever since I had to have my gall bladder removed, two years ago, I can't eat my favorite, spaghetti marinara. I can only eat SMALL portion of it at one time. If I eat more, I get queasy. Well, tonight I had it and went a wee bit over. I felt queasy but it's going away....whew! I lost 25 lbs. and then more. I just can't eat the way I used to. We went to our favorite little place that makes it so nice and I almost ate the whole thing. To me it's not that much but I was always a big eater. My DH kept saying, is it time to stop? I get annoyed, he was right. I said, yeah, it's time. I took the rest home. It's so weird, I just get queasy. I used to be able to eat this by the metric ton. LOL! Anyway, I feel better now. It's like being motion sick. Crazy! Thank you to whomever reads this. XO

Hoping everyone is okay and getting along. I know there are a lot of folks out there struggling much worse than I.

I had my gallbladder removed when I was 3 1/2 months pregnant. The duct was blocked so there were not many options. That was the only gallbladder attack I ever had. I had been very ill with the pregnancy and thought the nausea, heartburn symptoms were related to the pregnancy. But then the severe pain came and would not go away. I lost 25 pounds and had trouble eating. But once my son was born my body adjusted. Everyone is different, maybe in the future you can return to eAting the sauce, Judy a little bit at a time.

Finally they discovered I needed to remove the gall bladder. I could not eat cantaloupe or fresh pineapple, before and I still had the same pain after the removal.

They did a scan afterwards and found no reason for the pain, but I stay away from these items. Most of the attacks I had before the removal, were not from any other thing I ate.

So I am wondering if you had previous problems with spaghetti sauce or pasta before your procedure?

had my gall bladder removed in the 1960’s and I do remember one of the warnings was that I might find foods I could no longer digest. Sadly, I proved to myself I could overeat almost anything. I was only 24 for that surgery and didn’t suffer pain or even much heartburn for another 20 some years.

now in my late 70’s, I can still eat just about anything as long as I limit portions (especially with fatty foods). The only things I eliminate totally are those I just don’t like.

We humans are different in so many ways!

If a food makes you feel sick, your body is telling you not to eat that food. Unless the dish was loaded with fats, I don't see how removal of the gallbladder could be involved. The only after-effects of my cholecystectomy many years ago were cessation of constant nausea and the development of surgical site hernias. Unfortunately, I could eat everything, fats included.

People can develop problems with foods that were previously fine as they age, independent of anything else. Amounts may also be an issue. Gorging is never wise, and the body naturally becomes less tolerant of excess as we get older.

When going to a restaurant, it might be smart to ask the wait person to bring a take-home container with the entree and to put most of the meal into before eating, then enjoy the portion that doesn't trigger a bad reaction.

I also had mine removed in 2005. I had trouble for about 2-3 months but then it subsided.

I also have acid reflux so I understand feeling kind of nauseous after eating. I would definitely talk to your doctor - you might need meds for it. I've been on them for 25 years and rarely feel that way but I'm also not a big eater.

Hope that helps!

Had mine out 2 yrs.ago and still have issues. No big deal.I read that after gallbladder is removed that a lot of people still feel like it never left!

Maybe it's garlic in the sauce. I have had my gallbladder out with no issues of what I can eat. However, as I have aged, I cannot tolerate dishes high in garlic. Just a thought.

My gallbladder was taken out several years ago. I did have problems. I am taking a digestive enzyme and it has helped me a lot. The first one I took didn't help me much so I found some reviews on another digestive enzyme where it worked better on people who didn't have their gall bladders.

PLEASE NOTE: Both my gastro dr. and family dr. approved. I think that's important. Everyone is different and they know what other meds may interfere or cause adverse effects (or any other reasons) that could cause problems.

We're all different. A girlfriend of mine had her gall bladder removed about 20 years ago and has been on a special diet ever since.

I had problems with fats and lettuce before I had my gall bladder removed. Since my surgery 10 years ago, I can eat anything I want without any problems.
