St. John's Wort. Many years since I've taken it. Only side effect I recall was some very mild indigestion.

Have your Vit D checked, esp in Fall/Winter. Also some Omega 3's. Highly recommend Lessman's. I stick with the original as I can't take krill oil.

Dr. Mercola and Dr. Weil write extensively about supps but start with 1 at a time. Then you'll know what's working and what's not.

Buy the best quality you can afford.

Please discuss this with your doctor. Even something "natural" might interact with medications you might be taking. Natural supplements affect people differently. What is good for one person is not good for all, especially if you ingest it.

Something that is natural--acupuncture. That does not involve medication or supplements.

But if you want to take something as others have stated--see your doctor first.!!

It could be a body chemistry imbalance that needs adjusting and until blood work and other tests are done --you probably should not mess with it.

Sunshine and exercise is not going to do much for someone who is truly depressed. These suggestions may help those who are feeling sad, but it takes years of therapy and possibly real medication in the hope of getting well. Depression is a medical condition and should be dealt with as such with a doctor.

Walking is good- chamomile tea in the evening helps too. If you are comfortable reaching out to family or friends/acquaintances- just to say- isn't this world crazy..as a conversation starter- .just talking is helpful- Reaching out and yes even posting on groups like this one can be helpful- just to know that others hear you. I know it sounds simplistic but that's what I do. 😊😇

The best natural depression help is a furry friend. I never found anything "natural" that you can ingest that worked really well. However a pet will get you to interact, petting the animal is naturally calming, and talking walks is helpful on all fronts (exercise, as well as mentally and emotionally recharging). Cat, dog, bird, you name it. They force a person to interact and get up out of a chair, and move. Just a thought. I'm sure there are natural suppliments you can take, but giving a homeless pet a home can be a great spirit uplifter for both of you.

Prior to the pandemic, I had been going to my Senior Fit exercise class 4 days/week. The classes were 45-50 minutes and attended by about 60-65 other seniors. All of a sudden, no more classes. No more interaction with my classmates. Since I live alone, things have been difficult for me, but I'm trying to cope. I do try to do a YouTube senior exercise most days. I'm just doing the ones that are 22-24 minutes. But it's a big help to get up an moving. I do feel a bit better (mentally and physically) after those routines. Who knows, I might even check out longer routines eventually. YouTube has a huges variety of exericises to choose from. All free. Better than trying to find a med that may or may not cause other problems.
