This is interesting to me. I have never had contacts, because my eyes weren't that bad. I mainly wear my glasses to drive or at the movie theater.

Then I needed reading glasses. Then I need reading glasses to read ANYTHING (How do you find shampoo & conditioner in the shower?! I had to put #1 & #2 with a black Sharpie!).

I am going to talk to my optomitrist about contacts Friday, but it's good to know others experience.

My sister said she wears the daily contacts with one for distance & one for reading. I don't understand how my brain will accept that.

The night time halo is a known drawback for contacts at night, it's better to just wear your glasses at night.

I wear them for a few days then put in new ones. It's nice having a fresh pair of contacts to wear.

I wear Dailies Total One and love them. I have dry eye and they are the only kind I've tried that I like. Doctor said after 24 hours, the material starts to break down. So, don't try to extend them for more than one day. They are expensive, but I never have to worry about buildup. They are a fresh pair of lenses every day. I thought I'd never be able to get back in contacts. I get the halos at night and reflectivity sensitivity during the day (from chrome, metal, and glass when the sun hits it). I have this problem always, contacts or glasses. Nothing I can do about it, but wear polarized sunglasses when outside. Of course, a nice dreary day works wonders!

I have both single (one day) and multiple (up to 30 days or wearings) use multifocal contacts. Both have pros and cons, but I much prefer the single use lenses, which are the Clariti 1 Day brand. My vision is just a wee bit better with the multi use lenses, but the single use are far more convenient and comfortable. No fusing with cases, cleaners, etc.

I've not had any issues with night driving with either lense.

I would never consider re-using the single use lense. My multiple use lenses are approved by the FDA to be worn continuously for up to 30 days, but my opthamologist strongly discourages doing so.

Have worn the 30 day contacts - one eye only for years. No problems. At times I forget when the 30 days runs out and have worn them much longer without problems. Dailies are great, but too expensive.

I have also wear Dailies Monovision.

Dailies: yes you could wear more than one day but that means case and solutions. Wearing only one lens is worth it to me to wear and toss.

Monovision: A lot has been posted pro and con about this vision technique. My pearls: Contact lenses(monovision or bifocal lenses) for reading are not microscopes nor do they give you your 20 year old vision back.

For me, my monovision provides me comfortable and satisfactory near vision for most of my needs. If you want to thread a needle or see itty bitty fine print just pop on a reader.

Driving with monovison: It does not bother me in the daytime but at night, if I am the driver I remove the lens.

Since I only wear the one lens, my sun glasses are non Rx which is much less than the cost of prescription sun.

Most time companies offer generous rebates on lenses.

I wear Acuvue Daily Moist. I only wear one lens for distance. I like them, but they are more expensive. I never wear the same lens more than one day, not worth the potential damage to my eye.

For reading or threading a needle, my near is better without glasses or contacts.

I've worn contacts for over 40 years. Never had a problem. I just got a new prescription and was told to have my eyes checked for cataracts. I have had a touch of the "halo" thing when looking at lights at night. Mine are the 30 day ones. I had them back in the day when you had to heat them to sterilize them lol. Never had any issues or infections. I still need reading glasses but otherwise I'm fine. I know there are some people who just can't wear them. My glasses are so heavy and thick even with the "thinner" lenses that they now have so contacts have been my blessing. I hate my glasses. My prescription fits only a few frames and my small face makes it hard to find anything that fits. By the way I have always taken mine out at night and never slept in them. I just keep my glasses by the bed and put my contacts in first thing. I also have worn my 30 day ones longer than 30 days lol. I swim with them and shower with them without a problem. I've never gone blind from wearing mine more than one day. Again no issues, infections or problems in 40 years. I've worn all different brands. Right now I have the AccuVue because my prescription is so high. By the way the eye doctors I've had told me the pin point/halo light issues are signs of cataracts not the lenses. Good luck!!

I loved, loved, loved my daily contacts. I am in 2 week disposables and a couple of years ago I was using the daily ones.

The only reason I stopped was due to cost. I have to have toric lenses and the cost of toric dailies was almost 5 times the cost of toric 2 week disposables. I couldn't justify that cost because there really isn't anything wrong with my 2 week lenses.

I tried monovision lenses and couldn't get used to them so I gave up. Readers are a pain but a necessary evil.

One of the major conveniences of having daily lenses is not having to bother with a case and solutions. If you wear them more than 1 day, you have to bother with that so what is the point? I could wear my 2 week lenses longer than 2 weeks too but if that's what I wanted to do, I wouldn't get the 2 week lenses.

I've only worn daily contacts.. so I cannot compare to others. I only wear them for one day, never slept in them.

I've had the same experience that @deb5555 did though. I have dry eyes, and sometimes not every time they do stick like suction cups. I've also had 3 or 4 times in my right eye, where it felt like it came out or half of it came out and it would make that eye red and goop'd up in the mornings until it all dissolved.

I wear my glasses much more often than the contacts though, because they are so expensive !
