Thought I'd start a new thread so we wouldn't derail The Bird's thread any further! I caught a little of Marianne Kane on youtube and yes, she's very impressive! Are you familiar with Neghar Fonooni, she's also very impressive and an RKC as well.

The guy I was thinking of is Jordan Vezina. He's an RKC and has a website averagetoelite.com. Very smart guy, very interesting guy, I'd love to get out to his place to train with him someday.

When you mentioned a return to training after surgery I thought of Anthony's "Resolution" workout. You might check that out. I've used it myself, it uses a lot of swings, clean & press, deadlift, and pullups.

I came back to lifting after about a year and a half (back injury from an overzealous day on the deadlift - I was STOOPID, I was tired and thought I'd keep going for a PR anyway - dumb, dumb, DUMB!) Anyway, I used Resolution for a few months when I got back into it (after ETK).

Ooooo....you've given me lots & lots of info. Thanks! I'm still just giggly that you know Anthony. Side note...have you used the battle ropes?

OKOKOKOK...spill. Give me some PRs. It's not bragging...it's, well, fact!! GO.

BTW...tell me more about this black belt guy!! And yes, that's another thing I've done...martial arts!

Yes, I've used the ropes. Taught a class where I live where we used them. They are GREAT!!! I want to get some for home when I can find a place for them (which, right now, means cleaning out my garage!!!)

My best lift is the deadlift. My PR is 230. I was going for 235 when I tweaked my back. I weighed about 128 at the time, so not too shabby!

I'm nowhere NEAR a 230 deadlift at present. I've been fooling around with 145 during workouts (for reps). I can handle that easily, and am reluctant to push it too far too soon lest I re-injure myself.

I do snatches with a 12 kg. kettlebell (80 in a single workout - going for 100 next week). I was doing 100 snatches with a 16 kg. bell but that was, again, pre-injury. But I can see myself doing them again by the end of the summer. Maybe sooner if all goes well.

Anthony is great, btw, really nice guy in person. He's has his share of difficulties along the way, too.

Oh, the black belt guy is Dave Randolph of IronBody Fitness in Louisville, KY. The first time I picked up a kettlebell was at a beginning kettlebell workshop he held one Saturday. I was hooked from then on!

Dave is an RKC and has a IKFF cert, too (Steve Cotter). Nice guy, very strong.

P.S. Actually, I think that Steve Cotter started the IKFF. Talk about strong. Ever see the video of him doing a single leg squat jumping on and off a table?

I struggled for the LONGEST time to do a C&P with a 16kg. bell. Overhead pressing is a weak link for me. And it was difficult to jump from a 12 kg. bell to the 16.

Wow! I bow down with respect! Nice numbers for a sprite little thing!!! As for "middle weight" KBs....try Perform Better. Or competition KBs where they're all the same size & add on the weight every 2-3kg. Also...since you're "inner circle", have you heard/know of Missy Beaver? I think, if my memory serves me, she's from the Northeast. Gosh, I've gotten inspired "talking" with you about this. Thanks for all your info & inspiration! I bet you're an amazing instructor!

Yes, I have a Perform Better bell (my 16kg.) Others, (20kg, 24kg.) are Anthony's. My smaller bells (8kg and 12kg.) are the first ones I got (Muscle Driver, I think).

I've thought about getting some competition bells. I do like how they're all the same size, just different weights. Do you have any?

I've seen Missy's site - her last name always makes me laugh. I'll bet she gets that a lot.

HEY SIDSMOM,

You want some inspiration?

Go to youtube and type in DEFYING GRAVITY IRONMAVEN

These women are awesome and you see where the kettlebell clean and snatch originates (if you didn't already know, and even if you do, these women are crazy awesome)

I NEVER see anyone do a split clean or barbell snatch. But my gym isn't set up for those, so...

Turn up the volume because the music is so great with the video.
