That would be the one I have mentioned many times on this forum.

Many were done when I was an in-patient at the hospital, where there is little choice. The few when I was home were no issue for me since I had used that many day liquid nutritional procedure many times, over several decades.

I think way too many think they "will starve to death" if they don't eat solid foods for a few days. Why? Beats the he!! out of me. I like my late Running Guru's personal assessment statement. He was a world renowned heart surgeon and an avid runner.

"I have been at the finish line of thousands of road races. Have yet to see a runner die of starvation after finishing the race. However I have seen hundreds get sick and need assistance because of vomiting".

Dr. George Sheehan

hckynut 🏒

Update on colonoscopy

First, a big thank you for those of you who took the time to ease my fears about the prep and the procedure. You were right when you said that the prep was the worst part of it. I only wish I had known that nausea and what follows were a part of it. Using the laxatives wasn't as bad as I had thought it would be, but laying on the bathroom floor feeling sick was not on my radar. Anyway, I made it to the appointment. The staff that took care of me were absolutely fabulous, so I knew I would be in good hands.
As for the results: no polyps, no tumors, and no cancer! And since no one in my family has had colorectal cancer, I don't have to have another colonoscopy for 10 years. (Maybe by then, the prep will improve). Checking that off my list!

I hope you all have a great day. As for me, I am starving so it's time for lunch.

Lisa

I wasn't even going to post about this until I saw your post about the prep part. The Covid test, whether it's nasal or throat swap, will be just a blip of a moment. Prep for colonoscopy takes much longer and is, shall we say, "not pretty". Keep the goal in mind-good health and maybe you won't need one for another 10 years, too. I will be thinking of you @tends2dogs .

Good luck on both tests and keep us posted.

Congrats to you. I am also on the 10 year plan, and I just hope every 10 years that the prep imroves on itself. No real improvement from 2005 to 2016, I can attest to that!!

At least the days of drinking a gallon of that c rap are gone, at least I hope there are no more docs out there that insist on this, if they do, find a different doc!!

Those days of that "c rap" are not over. My Gastro Group of Doctors insist on it, why? Because they have had patients use the others and found they could not complete the procedure. When that happens, guess what? The patient has to schedule another Colonoscopy.

I like all 10 of the different Doctors I have had in this group, and have no intention of changing. Fact I think I will have gallon #21 coming up in early 2021.

What others chose is fine with me, but I will stick with what I know works best for me, and with no adverse effects, before/during, or after.

Been ages since I have jousted with you.

For me it was pretty easy... I fasted for three days prior on just fresh vegetable juice and took mild herbal laxatives... by the day prior to the exam... taking the prep was easy as I was already cleaned out. I highly recommend doing what I did prior to the colonoscopy.

Dr. George Sheehan

hckynut 🏒

@Lisa Y wrote:

Lisa

Good for you Lisa!! So sorry to hear the prep was a problem. If you can use the Miralax mixed with Gatorade next time, it should be a lot easier on you. I'm on the 10 year plan too and hope by then we can just fast for 3 days instead of using the prep LOL! Congratulations for getting it done with great results!!
