Can anyone recommend a ''tried and true ''company to purchase face shields from? Quick delivery is also a plus. Thank you.

I saw face shields at BJ's when I was there Monday. I just checked their website and they have a pack of 10 shields for $24.99. I think the shipping time's 4-6 weeks, though.

I say if you want your nose and eyes completely shielded from outside air, what could be better than swimmers goggles with a nose shield? Those actually seal both your eyes and your nose from those nasty aerosolized droplets. With those and a mask you'll be even more unrecognizable. Why not go all the way?

Amazon has them for under $18 and you won't have to wait weeks to get them. If you're a prime member, a couple or 3 days.

My friends and I have bought USA made shields from Silicone Gear. They are nicely made and will last a while. Plus they ship for free and arrive quickly. Some of the other shields in the market are cheaply made and will fall apart.

I just read a study of face shields.

They will give some protection from the initial spater of a cough or sneeze near you.

But when tested for residual aerosols it was not protective.

The test also used smoke and showed how particles can travel around and behind the shield.

Full protection=googles

@sarahpanda BJ's stands for Berkeley and Jensen. It's a big box store similar to Costco.

Yep, just said that in my other post. If you are going to cover your eyes for protection, can't see how aerosolized droplets are stopped with a shield.

Those little buggers go up, just like helium, and a shield covers what? A straight shot of something before gravity takes over. It ain't about looks anymore, or is it ladies?

Yeah, a lot of the N95 masks are vented and allow exhaled air to leave unfiltered. They're somewhat good at protecting you, but useless for protecting others.

Having used masks a lot in the past for sanding stuff, I kind of question their effectiveness in protecting against tiny little viruses. No matter how well the masks seem to fit, drywall dust always manages to get through. The masks stop a lot of it, but blow your nose and out comes white colored snot. Viruses are a lot smaller than drywall particles.

The belief that they'll catch droplets to prevent the spread doesn't really seem to be holding true in the real world as the virus continues to spread regardless of mask mandates.

I love the face shield. Been wearing the same one since March. Just wipe clean with alcohol. Steer clear of people. My hair which is long now, creates extra protection on the sides.
