Within a couple of days my nightsweats were gone.A friend of mine had both nightsweats & hot flashes & it worked for her too.

I know how uncomfortable it can get.

I mentioned in another menopause thread, I'm in peri. And Amberen has completely gotten rid of my hot flashes and night sweats. About almost a month ago they started coming back and I'm back on Amberen and they have been gone for about two weeks.

I couldn't sleep properly and now I can. That is so crucial for my wellbeing in every area of my life.

You take it for 90 days. And the hot flashes go away during that time, but you keep taking it until the 90 days are over. Then you go off it. If and when symptoms start up again, you do another 90 days. Works like a charm.

I found this great book, The Natural Remedy Book for Women by Diane Stein. There is a section on Menopause ways to deal with various side affects like hot flashes. The book recommends vitamin E, B-complex, vitamin C, in addition to other treatments. This book saved me and I would recommend it to anyone. Also, and you may already know this, but if you eat meat or dairy, for example, they will give you hat flashes because of the animal estrogen. There are other foods that will give you hot flashes as well, like chocolate, so you may want to adjust your diet to include more vegetables. I read that in Japan the woman do not go through menopause with all the side affects due to their diet. Hope this helps.

Yes I have had hot flashes and night sweats for several years now. The summer affects me the most. It seems like hot weather brings them on. Our home is air conditioned but I also use a fan at night. My doctor says it will go away eventually but at this point I’m not so sure.

I'm 16 years past menopause and still have hot flashes. My gyno said it was very normal due to all the hormone changes that continue as we get older. I swear my body temp never went back down because I'm always hot.

I never took hormones or supplements during peri or menopause. There are too many warnings about over-the-counter supplements, particularly black cohosh.

Before I retired, I kept cold, wet, paper towels in my desk. Now I just splash my face a lot. It's just the way it is. I lived through it just fine.

There are a lot of these types of supplements around to fight meno symptoms, most all of them contain black cohosh. Amberen is another one. These use plants that produce estrogen like effects .

@morganjen you are so right about women in their 80s. I am just a person. 81 in June and still have hot flashes. My ac bills are quite high. One Doctor told me some women have them forever another doctor told me cut my dose of Zoloft in half. Still no relief. Keep ice packs handy. Just another thing to hate about getting old.

I’ve been having hot flashes & night sweats for about 10 years now. My gynecologist suggested I try various natural supplements none of which worked for me. She prescribed HRT which really helped, but due to uterine polyps I had to stop taking it. Now the flashes & night sweats are really bad again. Just toughing it out.

I have 2 older sisters. One never had flashes, the other still has them almost 20 years later but not as frequently. I am hoping mine will become less frequent sooner than later.
