Please Pray For My DH🙏

This morning my DH went to his urologist for his yearly checkup. He was told that he had an elevated PSA. The doctor is sending him for a 4K blood test & an MRI.

We are absolutely freaking out.This has been a terrible year for us.Now this. The poor guy is falling apart.I'm trying to hide my fear. I've been running into the bathroom to cry. I'm terrified of losing him. I'm being very supportive but I'm crumbling inside.

Please pray for my husband. He's a wonderful man who's always been there for everybody. Thank you. 🙏

Try not to envision the worst...I know it's hard not to, but it could be something easily fixable.

@NicksmomESQ - I wish your husband the very best of good health. Please try to think positive, because if you run to the bathroom to cry, chances are he's going to be aware of it.

I never like seeing anyone really worried about their spouse or SO. From mine and my wife's many health experiences, I really practice what I say to others.

It's very obvious you are very worried about your husband, but do not jump to "losing him". Several good friends of mine have had prostate cancer, and while they were bad times, all of them are still living.

A few had it removed/others chemo, and several with radiation. Some in the medical field no longer consider prostate cancer a deadly form.

My thoughts are with you and your husband and I sincerely hope everything turns out for the best.

I know that it is always concerning to hear of anything that might be cancer, but many men have had this, including my father and 20 years ago it is definitely not a terminal sentence.

They have targeted radioactive beads and many ways to kick this out out with no more recurrence.

So take heart and I hope it will all go as the very best for you and your husband!🙏🏼

My husband had an elevated PSA a few years ago and it turned out to be nothing. He had his appendix removed a few months prior and had a catheter which caused an infection. The doctor gave him Cipro and it took care of his infection and his numbers have been fine ever since. Keep positive.

@NicksmomESQ Prayers for peace and strength to you and your dear husband. Make the best decision after your husband receives diagnostics. There have been advances in medicine with this particular cancer. Go for treatment at the most advanced hospital available to you. Take a deep breath and one step at a time.

It doesnt necessarily mean cancer, could be prostitis. Hopefully it is not serious but even if it is many doctors take a watch and wait approach with prostate cancer. it grows slowly and doctors can monitor it before doing surgery, Not sure how old your husband is but many men diagnosed in their 70s die of something other than the prostate cancer. I pray he is ok. Please stay strong for him.

Let the tests be completed and then both of you go over the results and options with the doctor.

Elevated PSA and even a certain Gleason rating level do not mean the end. Years ago, DH and I faced this situation and watchful waiting was the best option.

Read all you can now about the situation....it is very important for both of you to remain calm so you can make the best decision with your DH's doctor. Crying will not change anything: it can even make your DH more anxious if he finds out that you are hiding this from him.

Read and talk from the education you are now receiving.

Best of luck as you both journey through this trying time. Been there...it can be overwhelming at times.

Elevated PSA is not a diagnosis for prostate cancer, nor does it always lead to a biopsy. It may indicate other conditions such as Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH), Prostatitis (enlarged prostate) or a urinary tract infection.

Prayers for peace sent Nicksmom, do not panic deep breath I know how you feel I do, both my husband and I have had cancer, I had a pesky case of breast cancer, 17 years ago. Seven years ago my husband had prostate cancer. It was so spread out and going into bladder. He had high beam radiation and Lupron shots ....and he is fine. Prostate cancer is soooo curable. it is scary, so horrifying when you get the diagnosis for me seriously , having gone through this. The worst part.? Waiting for those darn tests, then waiting to get in. You would think in this day and age when they send men to he moon, and can cure diseases that were deadly years ago, they could find a way to get results in one day It is torture plain and simple.
Also, for years before my husband had cancer he had high PSA levels, he took medication for that and PSA lowered. I think my husband went through the roof with stress when his mom and dad died. He was executor and went through the selling of home etc. with only me to help. He also had a high powered job with travel for a missle and rocket company. A year after ,that he was diagnosed with prostate cancer. I think the stress contributed to the cancer.

anyway, not to stress ...it will be okay....and if it is something more , it is curable especially at this stage. I am so sorry. Big hug

He seems to be in good hands and you are also a strength for him. Just go through the steps together. It will be OK.

Cancer scares people when they are first faced with it, but comes to be more of a never ending background noise.

Your concern is understandable, but try to stay calm and upbeat. The waiting game is the worst. I'll pray that it is an easily fixable problem and not cancer.

Elevated PSA is very common in senior men. My Dad had it and it was elevated for 20 years, but never progressed to cancer. And often prostate cancer is something men can live with and be ok. Just wait and try to stay calm. Worry doesn't change anything. Sending Thoughts and good wishes-

My father had prostate cancer. He's been fine for over 20 years after radiation treatment. It's very treatable.

Will remember him in my prayers.
