MEDICAL PROCEDURES...

Can you think of one or a few medical procedures rhat have actually changed your life and made it better.? For me, it was lasik eye surgery. The morning after I had it done I awoke and turned my heed to the outside, and I saw all the beautiful green leaves. It's not that I haven't had other procedures i.e. appendix, gall bladder etc,. But the lasik surgery was easy revovery and now I only use readers whan I am reading for a lomg time.

And no, it wasn't covered by insurance, but still worth it.

Both knees and both hips replaced.. Truely MIRACLES....

cataract eye surgery both eyes...AMAZING 20/ 20 vision!

Planter faciitus surgery on my right foot. I made a huge impact in my everyday walking. Virtually painless for the surgery and improved my issue by 99%.

Would do it again - even if not covered by insurance.

When my gallbladder exploded my surgery saved my life. That was a miracle. I am lucky to be here and I never forget it. ❤️🙏

Gastric bypass; I weighed 370lbs and my blood sugar was creeping up year after year. Although I didn't have Type 2...yet. My blood pressure was high, I had inflammation that made my legs look like tree stumps. I was gaining 50lbs a year and I know that If I managed to live this long, I would have been one of those house bound 900lb people.

Thyroid ablation: I had Graves Disease. It was so happy to hear that diagnosis because for years I had seen a serious of doctors who couldn't find a reason for my various symptoms. One doctor suggested a psychiatrist! I regained my health after the ablation of my thyroid.

Hysterectomy: I had a uterine fibroid that caussed me great pain and bleeding but my gynecologist at the time didn't think a hysterectomy was the answer. She was concerned about my weight and the after effects of a hysterectomy on a woman as young as I was. I saw another gynecologist and had the surgery! I got through the surgery just fine, even at 300lbs. and I had no problems or concerns or issues after the surgery.

Knee Replacement surgery: The delay with that was all on me. My only regret with that is that I didn't have it sooner. I suffered and hobbled around needlessly for several years. I had the surgery and got my life back. I'm planning to have my left knee done in 2020 even though it isn't nearly as bad as the right knee was.

Surgeries to repair a detached retina. I'd be blind in that eye if they hadn't happened.

Thinking about it,the only surgery that I've ever had was a tonsillectomy when I was three and about 20 years ago I had a procedure for a deviated septum and enlarged turbinates (which really did nothing for me as far as being able to breath better).

Going forward who knows what the future holds but I would like a few minor cosmetic procedures.

Rotator cuff surgery ....worked out well .. I had more pain before

the surgery than after .....it was like a throbbing tooth ache ..

On a lighter note ... I had breast reduction surgery twice ..

first was not as small as I wanted ....I was thrilled to be

able to have this surgery ...it changed my life ...I was also

the first person that the surgeon let go home the same

day ...he felt I was strong and a good candidate for him

to try this ......

I would be paralyzed from the neck down if I didn't have my neck bones completely removed and replaced with fake bones and screws. I had all of the vertebrae removed from the base of my skull all the way down to the top of my shoulders. It was some kind of weird bone degenerative tumor that caused my neck bones to turn into soft gel. The minute they saw it in the MRI, I was off to have surgery which lasted for 13 hours and it took 8 doctors plus all the other surgical team to fix me. Before I went under I had to sign my name on a dotted line saying I may not come back alive.

I was in a lot of pain for several months before the surgery. It was so bad that I became suicidal. I did not want to live another day. I could not get out of bed or do anything. Just wanted to die.

Today I am so thankful it's behind me now...I would rather die than have to go through that again...no lie.
