Bladder Issue

I'll try to be delicate about describing this, wondering if anyone else has this issue. I noticed yesterday and especially this morning, I have the urge to urinate,sometimes a strong urge. When I get to the bathroom and go, it's only a tiny bit, although I initially felt I needed to go a lot. It's only 8:00 , and I've had to go 6 times already this morning. What's going on? If it continues, I will go see a Dr., but curious if this is common. Thanks.

@nanny24 .....I do not think this is 'common'....my niece was not feeling good she went to the doctor and had a nasty UTI....nothing to mess with.

Sure sounds like uti, urinary tract infection. Can be treated easily. Left alone it can be very serious. Go to MD.

I've had bladder issues since I had a huge cyst on a fallopian tube back in my late 30s. I have to wear a pad 24/7 and I'm almost 65 now.

My blood pressure medication makes me go more frequently as well as caffeine. There are times if I have an appointment in the city - about an hour away - that I skip my morning coffee as I can't make it all the way in without stopping.

I'm also sure that my obesity contributes to the issue.......but I wasn't obese when it began.

ok, I looked up the symptoms,and that could be it, however that is the only symptom I have. No pain at all. Thank you for your responses, gives me something to go on. I always know I can receive some good advice from you sweet ladies.

You need to go to your doctor. They will take a sample and more than likely do a dip test in the office. If you test positive for a UTI, they will give you an antibiotic. Your specimen will be sent out to a lab for further testing to determine what type of bacteria is causing the infection. If your antibiotic needs to be changed based on the bacteria found, it will be changed.

You should also drink tons and tons of water to flush your system. But do not let this go because if it is a UTI, it can get worse. Whatever you do, do not take anything over the counter like AZO before going to your doctor because that interfers with the test.

Had no pain at all with my last bladder infection. My Dr. says it is common for those who are older to have them frequently. Antibiotics are known to destroy the good bacteria if taken too often, however.

@nanny24 One added thing (I do agree with the possible UTI, though). When you do urinate, is the color really yellow and kind of dark? If so, I'd also suggest you need more water......lots more. Having a darker urine will often irritate the tract walls enough to make you feel you need to go, even when there isn't much there. As we age, the urinary walls get thinner and more vulnerable to irritation and infection as well.

It could be a bladder infection, a kidney infection or a UTI. I would make the doctor appointment but in the meantime try drinking some cranberry juice. This helps ....some.

it sounds like what I may have. I am supposed to hear from doctor’s office today. They did a urinalysis test in their office that shows no bacteria. So they sent it out for culture. I am hoping there will be bacteria, because the alternative could be worse . . . Interstitial cysitis which has no cure, becomes chronic and almost untreatable. They use diet to treat it, no meds help.

Not meant to scare you, but it’s very coincidental that we both have the same symptoms.. Please see a doctor, preferably a urologist, if this continues. It could turn out to be a one time thing, I hope so.

Rest easy @LilacTree . I have had interstitial cystitis since 1986. There are many new treatments and a lot of hope for the condition. Elmiron is a wonderful drug and Prelief can be added to acidic beverages such as coffee making a patient a lot more comfortable.

Without a a cystoscopy in a hospital setting the diagnosis cannot be confirmed.

Hope that relieves some of your fears....

Thank you @LilacTree . That's very sweet of you. Between my RA, Hashimoto's and Type 1 diabetes I can honestly say, I know far more about chronic illnesses than I wish I did. I have learned over the years, though, to live day by day and be thankful for the good days.

Sounds like you might have an infection. Maybe urinary tract infection? Don't mess around with it. See you doctor sooner rather than later. I have had the same symptoms you have and it was a UTI. I had the urge to go with very little output. No pain though. I finally noticed blood in the urine and immediately called the doctor. I see a urologist about every four months. My doctor told me they are common among older women. I told him I had no pain and he said that pain is not always the case. I can't take Macrobid or Macrodantin and they are not recommended for older women. Had horrible reactions. I ended up on Cipro 500.
