With the popularity and advertising of Dental Implants, there is not much discussion of Porcelain Verneers.

I do understand that implants replace missing or failing teeth and that Veneers are primarily cosmetic.

Now that my teeth are aging,I wish I had taken the time to do Veneers 15 years ago.

granddi, porcelain veneers don't last forever - 10 years, maybe 15. They aren't cheap. Of course veneers are susceptible to damage like natural teeth.

Veneers aren't a replacement for your natural teeth it they are healthy. Your natural teeth are shaved down to accomodate the veneer. So once you make this decision, you have to live with veneers.

I got four veneers about 5 years ago. The teeth had been filled and refilled so many times - veneers was the best way to go.

Snce the veneers, I had a lot of bonding done - front teeth on top. They look fantastic! I'm going to have the bottom ones done this summer.

Well worth all the money I spent. In addition to required medical care ... I spare no expense for eyeglasses, hearing aids and dental care

ETA: Age shouldn't make any difference. I was over 70 with the first veneers .... and I'll be 77 by the time the next bonding is done.

Depends on what you want and your current dental health. My preferance would be implants. Implants are a life-long solution. You don't have to worry about loosing your veneers on your front teeth with some foods, apples, corn on the cob,raw carrots etc.

When my (much) younger sister was a baby, she was given an antibiotic(?) that caused her permanent teeth to come in discolored. It always bothered her so eventually she had veneers put on her teeth. The were costly but looked beautiful. (I was envious)

After almost 10 years, she was on vacation out of the country when one of the front ones came off. It was not a pretty sight. She did have it replaced when she returned home. Since then, (I think) almost all have been replaced.

My sister has veneers, and you are correct @granddi (at least in my sister's case)....she had only the front, bottom and top, teeth done. So her smile is very nice, but when she belly-laughs, the mouth is wide open and you can tell very easily the difference next to the other teeth.
