DH and I got part 1 of the vaccine today and told us to come back February 9 for part 2.

We weren’t on the waiting list too long. Through our prescription plan it cost $44 each.

Oh good! Glad you finally got it. @OKPrincess I'm hoping I can get it this week sometime. FC. My insurance pays 100% for it.

Haven't even gotten part 1 yet..I've been waiting MONTHS for a call that it's back in. Pharmacist informed me when I first tried getting it that it's going to be $150 for me.(each shot) I have medicare and an advantage plan.

I paid $312 for the second shingles shot! My first shot was fully covered by my Medicare/

BC-BS insurance.

I went ahead and paid the bill upon receipt; didn't think anything about it for a few days. Then realized there must have been a coding error and called my PCP's office. They looked into it; found out that, yes a temporary RN had coded my paperwork incorrectly. Apparently the billing department for all physicians in area doesn't believe the story! I do remember signing a paper stating I would be liable for the cost if my insurance did not cover the shot and was aware that if could happen. Just didn't expect it since the first shot was paid in full. Oh well, if it ever happens again I'll think about it for 24-48 hours before writing the check!!

Now you know the cost of one shingles shot from a physician's office! No wonder people are told to get them at Walgreen's.

We cannot find a source and are on several wait lists (CVS, Walgreens)

I had the first shot about 10 days ago. I'm sure that long term it's worth it but the day after I had to stay home due to extreme dizziness, nausea and uncontrollable shivering. Like a bad case of the flu. Thankfully that lasted only 24 hours.

The pharmacist wanted my prescription plan card which is Silver Script.

After January, we are signed up with Community Care prescription plan and the cost will be different I’m sure.

I had my Shingrix shots in July and September. (at our grocery store pharmacy) I have "regular" Medicare but my prescrption plan was part of my retirement package. It's been awhile but I'm pretty sure I paid $15 for each shot.

My arm was sore for about a week.

I'm hoping to get shot #2 before the end of the year. I got #1 in August and they guaranteed to have the second shot available if you paid for it up front , so I did. Then when it was time to get #2 instead they refunded my money because there was none available. I have a $200 deductible for drugs at this tier and the first one was $160. So now I only owe $40 for the second shot if I get it before the end of the year, but if it goes into next year it will be another $160, so that will really make me angry.

@OKPrincess When I had the older formula shingle shot last year, it was free with my insurance... now this new one costs out of pocket? Is tha cost for all insurance or just for some? Do you know?

Since I’m new to Medicare I really thought with prescription plan everything was covered but wrong. I’ll be anxious to see the cost for the 2nd does under community prescription plan.

Since I’m new to Medicare I really thought with prescription plan everything was covered but wrong. I’ll be anxious to see the cost for the 2nd does under community prescription plan.

It would depend on each individuals insurance .My medicare advantage plan covers it as a tier 3 drug so I have to meet a $200 deductible then pay 20%,because that is my tier 3 coverage.

I hate to hear that you can’t get your second shot. We got ours at Walgreens and they said it’s already at the store and holding our second dose until February 9.

Every state and pharmacy has their own rules; however the second dose must be taken within a certain time line.

Publix pharmacy told me the same thing, I even paid for the second shot up front. But when the time came they did not have it.

I got the first shot 3 months ago, my pharmacy says in January there will be plenty of the vaccine available. The only side effect I had from the first shot was a sore arm and I was feeling a little off for a few days, nothing I couldn't handle.

@OKPrincess .. my DH and I got both part 1 and part 2. Our pharmacy called us when they received the shipment for our second part. With our prescription plan there was no out of pocket cost for us.

I just got my first shot today. With my (non-Medicare) insurance plan it cost nothing for me. The second shot is billed separately and that will happen next year when I get the second one in a few months from now.

eta - It's been almost eight hours since I got that shot and besides my arm feeling like someone slugged me, I have a slight headache and I feel as though I have flu-like symptoms with some chills and ringing in my ears. Hopefully this will all subside over night. But in the meantime, I plan on going to bed extra early tonight.

Thank goodness , they just called me from Publix Pharmacy to schedule me to come in tomorrow for my second shot. Whew, save me a bundle to get it before the end of this year.

As of two wks ago it was not available in the Boston area.

Two friends of mine said they felt awful next couple days.

After having a severe (out of work three months) case of neuropathic pain following shingles years ago I will get the shots if I can find a place that has them.
